We haven't been getting alot of snow in my area this year :mad:but last night we got four inches. Took the oppurtunity to head out over to Comiskey Park parking lot and do some donuts and drive around in the snow with reckless abandon ( it's kind of tradition for some of us guysfrom the neighborhood to do after snows).:)
Had a blast driving around in it and doing"donuts" for fifteen minutes or so. I experienced no problem with the truck afterwards, but was curious as to any damage that can be done while doing this. Snow was 4" deep and never really "got on it" that hard.
Is this safe to do,mechanically wise for the truck, as long as the snow is deep enough?

I have never had any issues arise from doing Donuts in anything. Only damage I have seen, is if initiating the donut with the Parking Brake, hitting a curb, etc.

Or giving Copper a donut....that will result in the inevitable destruction of the donut....

I did have a buddy in the carolinas have some alignment issues after doing donuts. There was no snow, but he did have a slight alignment issue. I even test drove his truck afterwards and felt it pull slight-right.

He said he did not notice this issue before.

Gonna head out later today after some errands and show the wife what's all the fuss about.
Last night it was pretty late(2 A.M.). I was there by myself, just tearing ass next to the ball park. When I see a police SUV heading over. The SUV pulls up about 20' away. Flashes his brights and then rolls down the window.
"What are you up tonight"? he asks.
"just doing some donuts and driving around the lot" I replied
"you been drinking?" he asks with a grin.
"not a drop, officer" was my honest answer.
"alright, then be careful, and watch out around those light poles. I would hate to see you smash up such nice looking truck." he gives a coy grin and rolls up the window.
Then I watch as he proceeds to do a couple donuts himself before he leaves the lot. :) I guess it's the way it goes over here.

Well after your story Frank, and Brunes causing me to have a flashback, I gotta tell on myself.

Back when my wife and I were courting, I met her one night after work when she got off late. We went to the strip mall down the road where she dropped her cash deposit off at the bank and I preceded to do some donuts in the parking lot of the abandoned and dormant lot.(1am in the morning) After a few donuts, we pulled behind the building and parked, planning on doing a little 'talking'.;) After setting there for about 5 minutes a copper pulled up behind me.

Well all I was thinking was that we were in trouble for 'parking'. He gave me the run down, said don't come back here anymore and then when he went to walk away he turned and said, "no more donuts either". Holy cow, this guy came out of nowhere seeing me park back there and he also seen me eating his donuts earlier that morning!!!(that's what first went through my mind anyway) I asked the wife what in the world he meant by donuts and I think she is still laughing to this day. I didn't think of him watching me do donuts. A copper telling me no more donuts was something that has haunted me for years.:anonymous:

Frank-sorry to derail. If it counts for anything, doing donuts on snow has never caused any vehicle problems for me, besides getting attention I didn't want.

    stock, for now
I have heard of problems doing douhnuts..My buddy had a tundra that he used to do doughnuts with all the time..He used to have the wheel at full lock, which in turn blew out his power steering pump. He had to have all the lines replaced and the pump which was under warrenty somehow(the truck was leased)..haha

There was just someone on this forum posting about how after doing doughnuts in his truck, when the truck came to a stop something was "hissing"...Not sure what ever happened to that.

Good point. Care should be taken to not hold the steering against the stops. I useually back the steering off about 1/2 to 3/4 turn if doing a donut...

What if one were to do donuts on gravel???

I figured as long as there is plenty of lose stines on top that it would be fine...

Kinda defeats the purpose to putting it in 4WD...and drivetrain binding certainly can happen...
