Somewhat of a rant!

So I woke up at 6am Friday morning to head out to Arizona. Went to load my suitcase and noticed this:


I was soo mad. I had just ran Cleghorn, a local trail, 2 nights before and was hating myself for doing so. But I was confused since it didnt go flat until 2 days later. My buddy ended up having to drive us in his 2003 Toyota Matrix. It's lowered! I knew this would be rough since my dad lives off an 8 mile snowy road. But the Matrix took it like a champ.

Upon return home, I found out there was no leak. My tire was fine.
I have come up with 2 answers:

1. The day before my buddy's shop was not open and I really needed an oil change. So I went to Wal-Mart. I know I know. FAIL! I think when checking my tire pressure somehow they cocked the valve and it slowly let air out.

2. Someone came and let the air out as a joke and didn't tell me.

Either way, I'm glad I dont have to buy a new tire. Just sucks I couldn't take my truck. Would have came in handy.

I had the same thing happen at a toyota dealer in Tucson. Took my car in for an oil change and the next day the tire was flat. Nothing wrong with the tire.

 

LOLZ. Glad it wasn't cut. Could have been anything man.

 

Glad to hear ya didn't need a new tire and if someone played a joke on you, find out who it was and break there head lol!

 

I still live with the parentals and my stepdad gets crazy about oil on the driveway. I could have but I was rushing.

 

Yeah..Sucks that your air got let out...It is nicer than have to buy a new tire....=)

Could be a slow leak from a puncture or a leaky valve stem. Air the tire up to 40 psi and then remove it from the truck and apply some soapy water. Lay the tire flat and go around the rim. Bubbles will show if there is a leak along your bead. Do this for both sides as well as your valve stem. Stand the tire up and check the entire circumference of the tread also.

You don't need much dish soap in the mixture. A few drops per half gallon is plenty.

Short of pulling or loosening your valve stem, I don't really see what Wal Mart could have done to allow the tire not to go flat until several hours later. Simply moving or cocking a valve wouldn't create a leak unless it was held in place cocked.

Did you air up the tire yourself where the truck was parked or did a tire shop air it up and inspect the tire?

 

could you have moved the tire off of the rim ever so slightly? i had a buddy who had that happen to him..the tire didnt go flat till 2 days later because of the small air leak

 

I just want to point out that Matrixes...Matrices...Matrii...whatever....are surprisingly capable little shits. I've had my '03 for about 7 years now and I've taken the thing places a vehicle like it was NEVER intended to go, and it's held up to this heavy use/semi-abuse like a champ. Here at 167k, all I've had to do is regular maitenance, and the only problem is a crapped out headunit (which was replaced along with the rest of the stereo anyway).

I aired it up, and took it to a shop. They did what you said basically. No leak.

Yea it surprised us. He has an xrs so its pretty quick too.

I don't know if I'd call the drifting....but still fun when doing so off of public roads.
