^ I think that means the item is added by the dealer, so there is labor involved from the service department.

If the item was installed at port, you wouldn't have to pay the labor charges.

Think it's fairly standard they'll try to, but everything is negotiable. From what I hear the roof racks are a fairly easy install so why not do it yourself? Not sure about the tonneau as I think there's drilling involved, if it's the OEM.

Tonneau is a port installed option not available as a dealer installed option. It sounds like they're screwing with you.

anything that is PIO (port installed option) can be ordered and DIO (dealer installed option).

just that some dealers will add a dealer installed option pricing compared to PIO stuff.

thanks to everyone who responded to my post. BTW, I spoke to Joaquin from the Costco Auto Program and he said, in the San Diego region, the current pricing structure is now invoice + $800 for 2x4 and $1100 for 4x4 Tacoma. He explained that they are constantly checking the availability and pricing for all vehicles in each region. Every month they determine the current regional price structure for their dealers. Bottom line is that the Costco price can vary from month to month, region to region.
In today's market, that is an unheard of deal! Were you using a buying program or rebates? Also, I was under the impression that today, you could no longer order a 2016 Tacoma; only a 2017 model.

So you already paid this or you have this in writing? You won't be paying this when the truck arrives unless you have this in writing.

And just to let everyone know, the dealers do not pay the invoice prices they show you on paper. They would be out of business if they did. Very few people at a dealership know what they actually paid for the truck.

Z50king... I have an email from the dealer with the price we agree. He put his initial on it. It's just on a white piece of paper. Do you think they will honor it?

I used Costco and I'm not sure if the dealer is being honest(surprise, surprise) when he says that prices have changed. When I showed up the dealer checked my Costco membership, got details on the truck I wanted, 7545 HH TO looked it up in the Costco book and it showed Invoice +$150. The book showed all the models except the TRD Pro which isn't in the program.
You have to recall how Costco works, they set in prices early and keep them there. That is the Costco model, so your prices don't fluctuate. Your dealer should have asked for your membership card and shown you the book, if he didn't he's lying to you...
The dealer emailed me my receipt showing my truck with the options and the price minus the $500 deposit. Does this mean it's in writing, hardly. Businesses can refuse to sell you a car plain and simple. Their incentive is to remain in the Costco program. If that truck shows up and they ask for a fucking penny more, I will walk plain and simple. That's what you have to be willing and able to do so they don't fuck with you. If that happens I'll start all over again, of course after raising the issue directly with Costco.

I was told by several dealers in SoCal that they would not offer the dclb 4x4 Costco pricing.

Unless you register on Costco.com you are not going to a Costco dealer. Costco tells you which dealers are in your area, Mine was 30 miles from my home. The dealers contact you, not the other way around. If this didn't happen, they are bullshitting you...

Hey guys, I'm in the process of buying a TRD Offroad AC LB 4x4 auto (no options):

    7562 - TRD OFF ROAD ACCESS CAB 4X4 V6 AUTO LB........ $ 31230 | $ 33310 * +337/+360

This post describes the MSRP as 33310, but Truecar.com says it's 34270 (local to my area, i guess? (Austin,TX)).

    https://www.truecar.com/prices-new/...260&incentiveIds=&trimId=299702&zipcode=78705

This is my first time buying a car so I'm wondering why these two quoted MSRP's are different? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've picked up some general tips and tricks for buying from this forum, but if you guys have any more i would love to hear them.

The truecar price includes $900 delivery whereas the invoice price doesn't and delivery is an added line item

Were you referring to either of my posts (# 1427, 1439)?
If so, you made 2 false assumptions. First of all, I got my information from a guy who works for Costco in their Member Advocacy Group. I had emailed the Costco Auto Program asking for a referral to a different Costco dealer since the amount over invoice had gone up at my dealer. Joaquin assured me that my dealer gave the correct pricing for the SD region. So my dealer gave me the correct pricing and your assertion that Costco prices don't fluctuate is inaccurate.

Since the supply and demand in the LA/OC regions is not any better than SD, I didn't pursue finding another dealer. I am not sure if he would have given me a contact in another state (with larger inventories), if I had asked.
