Trying to make it to @Pistol Pete 's air show tomorrow, but The Weather Channel is saying 40% chance of thunderstorms in Dallas, while Aviationweather.com says only a slight chance. I know The Weather Channel isn't an official source for flight planning, but I'm still going to look at it anyway. Guess I'm going to call a briefer...

Edit: Checked the TAF and it is showing 900 foot ceilings right when we were planning to go. Looks like I'll be staying in Dallas. Rats. :pout:

Damn. That alone is almost reason enough to plan a trip to Georgia from the west coast. Doesn't look like they are doing it anywhere else.

This might be a stupid question that has maybe been asked here before. I've read through quite a few pages and haven't seen anything so I'll just go ahead and ask. I'm in college at the University of Alaska Anchorage, my major is Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technology with Emphasis on Professional Piloting. We have our own hanger and are right on Merrill field in Anchorage. I just wanted to know what the general take is on this degree from you guys, have any of you gone this route? My plan is to possibly join the Air Force after college to be a pilot or to try and become a bush pilot or fly commercially. Obviously I researched it like crazy before deciding on this degree but just wanted to hear from others. Thanks in advance.

I do not fly for a living but we have some guys in here who do...

But, if you're looking at flying for one of the majors, a BS is a good plan as many require/prefer it.

A lot of crazy & fun shows at PDK. Fairly big airport on edge of Atlanta city limits.

Main thing is VERY active people in aircraft community like EPPS and etc.

My mom has worked at Delta and is now at Southwest Airlines. She's been around the recruiters at both and they say that your degree really doesn't matter very much. They just want to see that you have one. I plan on flying for a living and am getting a degree in agribusiness with a minor in agricultural systems/technology management. That has nothing to do with flying, but I'm doing it because it sounded interesting to me. I'm currently thinking about military as well. Right now, I'm researching Air National Guard because it's part time, so I'd be able to get on with an airline and start building up my seniority at the same time and still get the military retirement when I turn 60.
