Sounds like a plan! I look forward to it!

@dwalden2 that's Eddie! Standby, and I'll post pics! He has, probably by far, my favorite 3rd gen I've seen so far!

Definitely agree. I did not like them at all at first, but the more I see them, the more I like them, especially this one. C4 fab did a friggin fantastic job on that front bumper, as I haven't seen one just yet that had me drooling over it.

I will say though, that you won't see me in a third gen until they've been out a few years and Toyota has all the kinks worked out. I've always been extremely leery of the first year model of a new engine, drivetrain, chassis, etc. Too many issues could potentially arise that may or may not have been an oversight from the manufacturer. Not to mention, I've got a good buddy that is a master tech for Toyota and he was VERY adamant about not getting one. Said they're pretty underpowered, a few have come to the dealer straight off the line w/ C/E lights on, and that if they ever need engine work from the dealer, that they have to take off the whole grille/front end to work on it, which, of course, any out of warranty work will cost approx 4 arms and 3.75 legs!

Yep! Granted, sure, there have been advancements and whatnot in engine technology, and I'm sure some of it had to do with the EPA and mpgs and BS like that.

Exactly! And I just did some quick research, the new 3.5 only gained a few hp over the later model 4.0s (I'm assuming 12-14 trucks had the newer 4.0 w/ dual VVTi), and actually lost ~10lb/ft of torque!

If I'd known you would've seen him by chance I would've had you grab some patches from him! I was gonna try and meet up with him when he came through Atlanta tomorrow but don't think I'll be able to!

It was kind of a random thing. I was on the treadmill at the gym, saw him go downtown and thought "damn, what a truck!" Then they pulled back through and parked beside the gym. I got off the treadmill and had to go check out the truck.

Best looking third gen I've seen by far. I was on the motorcycle at the time. Came back to town afterwards to get some oil for an oil change and went by to see if they were out so I could maybe get a pic but they were still downtown.

@GreeGunc If you are armored up, how about a quick shifter since you got a 5sp? Installed mine about a week ago. Well worth it.

Like the URD short shift kit? I have that and I love it no long shifts anymore

That's the one. I installed mine for the second gen 6 sp and LOVE IT! Way cheaper than the TRD one. Took me longer than it should have but things like that usually do on the first time around. Im not the most mechinaclly inclined person. Going to try and install some lights today, that should have me dropping some cuss words. But yes I would highly recommend the URD short shifter!

Yeah my truck came with it but in my older 4Runner it was stock and man going back to that its such a long shift haha. Definitely a good mod to invest in if you're a manual

    that thing is sweeeeet!

Same here. My goal is to treat myself to one when I graduate law school in 2019. Hopefully, they'll have the kinks worked out by then. Gonna get either that tan or the flat concrete color on TRD 17's and 35"'s and plate bumpers all around. Can't wait!

Lift or rear plate bumper. You only have a front plate bumper, correct?
