Hey Jason I have a quick question regarding a turbo'd vehicle.

My dad has a 2005 f250, 6.0 power stroke and occasionally the MAP will go from 28+ PSI to 0.0 or 0.1 under acceleration, but we keep boost (Both on the gauge and power wise).
I was thinking it may be the sensor but we can recreate it very easily by either towing or with an unloaded truck the MAP will drop after heavy acceleration.

No smoke from exhaust, and it usually does it going into 3rd gear.

Have you tried changing the MAP sensor? If your reading dips the sensor will see it but normally you will feel a loss in power due to the ECU calibration.
You said you have a stand alone gauge to verify the boost was uninterrupted?

I have not yet, I'm not sure it is the sensor because it's so easily replicated.
I have a scanguage hooked up to the OBD and it has a boost gauge in the dash (OEM) that I believe is mechanical, both read the same.

Been doing some reading on the power stroke forums about half of the people that posted said if the boost exceeds 23-24 PSI their scanguage MAP will default to 0 for a second, so I think it may just be a scanguauge issue or something to do with the refresh rate.

That is a possibility, may be out of the sensor's range, but I havent heard of this even on those with bigger turbos (and more boost) and I have worked on quite a few and never seen that problem before personally. And like you said depending on the scanner some are slower than others.

Had to work on a Chevy Silverado yesterday, upper and lower balljoints, what a pain in the arse! Had to drill out the super hard rivets in the lowers (they use RIVETS instead of bolts like Toyota, really stupid design in you ask me, I must have broken 5 drillbits at least, and 3 times it broke in the hole I was drilling and made life a living hell, lol. Had to bust out the Plasma cutter and gouge them until I got them hot enough I could chisel the top off and try and pound it through.
The uppers were a pressed fit into the UCA, I have a ball joint removal kit so it wasnt too terribly bad, but reminds me once again why I specialize in Toyota vehicles!!
Sad thing about this whole deal is that my customer took it to ORW about 8 years ago to get the ball joints changed, they charged him yet never actually did the job and they got him for $900!! Not cool, cant believe they ripped him off so hard like that...I took pics of the stock rivets so he can have a "talk" with them about that job, he got screwed over bad. I hear so many horror stories about ORW and 4WP constantly, not sure how they are still in business when you look at their reviews!

Been working on a ton of other jobs the last couple weeks on other vehicles, makes me really appreciate the design of Toyota in comparison. I guess that keeps things from being completely routine.
I have had a few different random welding jobs recently as well as building custom display racks for tradeshows.

I'm also going to be teaching some SCUBA classes and training some new Divemasters this summer, keeping it pretty diverse!

Not to mention currently training for The Last Dog Standing which is the hardest Extreme Enduro motorcycle race in America in just a few weeks.

If anybody needs anything let me know, weekdays are best for me but I can work on weekends as well since weekdays simply dont work for everyone.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Did a Toytec lift a few days ago. Front coilovers and rear AAL with pinion correcting angle shims.

Hey Jason, would pinion angle get thrown off just from a 1.5" lift AAL?

Yes a little but probably not enough to cause vibes. If it were me I would do it anyway.

Installed a lift on an FJ yesterday. A mix of different parts but it gets the job done. King COs, TC UCAs, Icon rear shocks and icon rear springs I think!
Turned out really good made a huge difference in height, the old suspension was totally sacked out!

Here are the new headlights I ordered a while back or my Jeep TJ, and they are extremely bright. All 7watt LEDs with a hi/lol function as well as DRLs that can be wired in.
Just in case anybody is looking for an inexpensive replacement round 7" headlight these are the ones!
I paid $150 shipped, worth every penny.

I want to see someone else do the 7" round LED light retrofit in the Tacoma headlights! I know Trac did it in their racetruck and I'm pretty sure it was street legal
