Just picked up the parts from the dealership. The breather looks right the union looks small in caparison. I guess I'll find out on Saturday.

    jager,

I got these parts recently too and noticed the same. There's another thread with a different part number for the union that looks to be bigger (kinda wish I'd seen that one sooner). I'm gonna roll with what I have (same union from this thread) and just use some hose that fits it (and fight to get it on the breather, use some soap, etc.). I figure a tight fit at the diff is whats most important and we can't be talking about that much air moving through this hose when you dip an axle in cold water (so 1/4'' hose vs 3/8'' hose, from the other thread, should make a huge difference).

Check out my post, this should help! https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-3rd-gen-today.399305/page-1053#post-12516753

I used the larger union from Toyota which works really well

Grr how did you guys do this by yourself? I can't get the breather on the 1/4 hose while it is in place. So in the mean time I put it on hoping that it stretches out the smaller 1/4 hose for a bit and I am less angry.

I used a small amount of die electric grease on the breather. Dish soap works good to.

I used a little dish soap and heated it with hot water. I have it on but when I put the breather through the hole I drilled there's no one to hold it on the outside while I am in the bed. My camper is in the way :(

I did mine by myself. Put mine in the cubby in the back. Pulled the cubby out, drilled the hole in the box and then installed the hose/breather, re-installed the cubby.

Where are you trying to mount your breather?

Next to the filler neck. With the camper on there's no way for me to do it. Hopefully later a friend will come help me out. The hose is on the breather for now sitting near the cubby. Hopefully while it is sitting there it will be a little stretched out and will slide on easier the second time.

I'm pretty sure the how to I followed suggested a larger hose (5/16 maybe?). I know the breather fit without any problem, but was plenty snug. I also routed it to the d side tail light instead of the filler.

Maybe use a large phillips head with a tiny bit of oil on it to loosen it up a bit.

I did that too with no luck. I made a couple of tiny slits and used some soap on the inside of the hose. Had a friend hold the outside and it slid on. Clamped it down and it should be good but I'll check it later. Also I have 2 breathers in my engine bay too and it's th MT.

Has anyone tried just gathering all the necessary parts and selling this as a kit with instructions?

No need... everything you need is listed in the first post. Parts needed and directions. Wouldn't be cost effective to make a kit if you want to make any $

I need to check on mine, so I'll take a picture when I do, but mine is relocated up behind the driver's side tail light. I was able to attach the breather to the hose and then secure it in place. I think it ends up higher than in the gas cubby, and I haven't thought of a bad reason to leave it behind the tail light.

I'm just thinking of people who don't want to deal with having to find all the necessary parts. I'm thinking about the people who see something smart and go to Amazon and in a few clicks have it all ordered. A few days later and one box at their door they have all the parts and info necessary to get it done.

I did the same. It's dustier back there, but you shouldn't get suction and dust at the same time. I do get a fair bit of dust in the gas cap area too - sometimes I spray it out when using the power washer on the truck, which is one of the reasons I didn't want to relocate the breather there. I just checked on mine when I put in my Depo tail lights and all seemed to be just fine. It's been there for a couple years now.
