I bought mine used. I got a letter and that was after changing addresses. You can have nearest dealer run your vin to see if you're affected. I've heard some dealers will replace them without inspecting them but some inspect them. If one dealer doesn't want to do it, go to another. Don't need a letter.

You should still get a letter. I get letters from GM for my Solstice that I am the second owner of. You can also go to Toyotas web site and enter your VIN and get info on any pending recalls and completed recalls. I think the dealers use the same web site. I would think the dealer would want to do the recall work on your truck, money in the bank, for them.

The letter will be sent to the current Registered owners address. Go to Toyota.com/recall and type in your vin# to see if it's eligible.

If you got a notice about the spiral cable, I would have that replaced. I kinda had the same attitude for a few years, until mine failed. Ever see a pinball machine or slot machine go off because of a winner? LOL! Thats about what the warning lights looked like on mine when my cable failed! LOL! :)

But seriously, that's a recall i'd pay attention to if your truck applies :)

I thought every replacement was to be 4 leaf to! When mine come in, if it the same old, cheapo's I'll be a very unhappy camper! LOL, before I put Dakar AAL, my OEM springs literally were drooping, the highest point was the axle mount! I still have to spray silicone lubricant every 3-4 days to keep the creeking down to a level where the police won't give me a citation for noise complaints! :)

These new springs are a major disappointment, I was expecting them to be better than my originals if for no other reason because they have 1 extra leaf. No, not only are they the same ride height when the bed is empty, they sag just as bad if not worse when loaded! I picked up a yard of mulch yesterday that had me riding the bump stops home. Is there any way a yard of mulch weighs more than the rated capacity?

I had my rear leaf replaced (thank you recall) but my hopes for a higher rear lift died once I saw the truck. I had to add the ICON AALs with the old springs and thinking that the old springs were sagging because they were old, I was hoping that the new ones would stand higher but they dont. So, I am going to put the AAL back in.

Just a couple of points, the dealer would not add/keep the AALs when replacing the springs and they told me that I may had to put the truck back to specs before they would do the job. At the end, they ended up doing it but I just wanted to note this. In terms of ride quality, it feels the same.

Here is my truck with the new sagging rear springs thats about to get a Brazilian butt lift sometime this week.

I'm getting the new leafs soon and I'm hoping for a little better ride quality.
I see a lot of people hoping to get a better quality leaf but you can't ask for much with toyota. It will be the same old leafs that they always put with their trucks, the only difference is there will be more clips.
I agree that the new leafs should not be bottoming out so easily though.

Toyota bit the big one on this...they had a world class opportunity to redeem themselves from the failures of their previous leaf packs....not only did they not do any better, but they did worse!!! (Which I never could have imagined being possible with how terrible my first two sets of leaf packs were...)

Yea I know but it's not a big deal to me. I'm most likely going to be adding a new AAL or progressive AAL.
I'm still riding on oem Springs and shocks so free Springs is an upgrade to me.
Like I said if your looking for quality Springs from toyota, don't hold your breath.

Anyone else notice this photo of the new RH spring in beavis87 post? Looks to me like they installed the spring with the center pin binding, preventing the overload from sitting flush with the rest of the leaves. I am looking to get my TSB springs replaced. They have been good so far. Will be pissed if I lose ride height.

mine sag too, this things are no better than the old ones. They may not break and puncture your gas tank which is good but they sure dont help with weight in bed or just by them selves..

Going in today to the stealership to get mine inspected. I have the three leaf pack with the three clips so I should be covered under the recall.

Had my '08 Tacoma at the dealership last week for the inspection. The leaf springs are in need of replacement. Just waiting for the parts to come in.

An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure. Does not hurt to have it checked and if someone else is going to make "fix" for free it just means you get to keep the truck longer.
