    Have a great trip @MQQSE, sounds like a great time.

    I have a job that is self managed, my boss sends emails, but I am out in the field dealing with customers, fixing big machines (let's leave it at that). Been there almost 30 years, fell into it as a temporary job but found it fits me to a tee. My Dad always told me to do what you want, but love what you do. He had a great paying job but hated every moment of it. He was never happy until he had to retire due to job related stress, at age 54...worked odd jobs after that.

    @Tacoma Mike- Beautiful garden areas-great work! My wife is a HUGE gardener, won't come in 'til 9pm during the summer months. Always on the prowl for new plants/ideas, loves to find friends she can exchange seeds or cuttings with. I am sore also, tried laying bricks for the first time yesterday, doing porches and steps. Have about 35 sq ft left for today if I can get off my arse and get started.

    Thanks mike.
    We started a small area for veggies last year. Trying it again.
    Trying to keep things small. Quick maintenance.

    @Tacoma Mike
    It is just constant maintenance for her, but I guess it balances against my work/mods on the truck.
    We have a small section for veggis also, 10 fruit trees, and a bazillion plants, flowers and shrubs. She just earned a Fullerton Beautiful Garden Award for the yard. She won't let me touch living things (black thumb), but I'm the builder of things like arbors, fences and such.

    Still have to make a fence for cukes. Scrap wood I have. Need some time before they blossom. Not worried until then.

    OMG an award? That is so cool. Sounds like way to much effort for us..lol
    I too have a black thumb. Why the veggies grew last year is beyond me. It was fun walking by and yanking stuff off and eating it right then.

    I enjoy the benefits, but oh the work! I honestly have no idea how she keeps up the motivation. And after the award and open tour of the garden (we had about 300 people come through the yard in one day) there are other gardeners calling and/or coming by.
    Well about to head outside to work on the bricks, if I can get these old bones to move...

    Just said goodbye to my daughter, son in law and their 5 kids. We had a great time over the past 3 1/2 days but I'm exhausted. My memory drifts back to when I was a kid and we would visit my Grandmother in Pa. She was from German stock and was a pretty tough women that I loved tremendously. Whenever my family would leave after a visit she would stand on the porch with a Hugh smile on her face waving goodbye. I could never figure out why she always looked so happy....I think I finally figured it out :)
