Best Route for a Lift Kit?

Stuffing your front tire into the fender is not an issue, unless you have an LT kit on your front. When Im stuffed, I have about an inch and a half before any contact. And thats with the sway bar disco'ed.

The info I gathered about OME: the 1.75" lift is an "Old" rateing. The springs were redone, and now the 885's and 886's give a full 3" lift. I'm running the 885's with no top plate spacer, and have been for a while now, and Im still at 3" lift over stock. No sighn of saging. Keep in mind the 886's are a higher spring rate (and I belive a thicker coil dia.), and are to be used in conjunction with a winch and heavy bumper. I didnt keep track of the cost of my lift, but I belive that with the OME front, TC UCA's, AAL, and rear shocks, the total was around $1000.00. I went with the Bilstien 5100 rear shocks as I have read many people with the OME rear shocks have had them break under heavy articulation. I couldnt be happier with my set up. Takes big hits VERY nicely, and has a good street ride.

Thanks for the clarification... Still got my heart set up on coilovers, but if money becomes an issue I will probably go with:

OME 886's: $150
5100's all around: $275
TC UCA: $600
Deaver Leaf pack: $600
Diff drop: $30.00
1pc drive shaft: $350

Under $2000 for an awesome set up that should handle URE and look sweet on the road. Mite even save couple hundred if I go with a Dakar leaf pack.

Sorry to ramble but this is going to be my biggest and hopefuly final mod to suspension LOL.

You dont really need 886s. Your an access cab without a bumper. That would be overkilll IMHO.

Correct! 885's are recomended for Double cabs. 884's are for Extra cabs.

Do the 884's provide the full 3" lift such as you stated for the 885's and 886's. I will only upgrade to get that noticeable increase in lift...

A few folks here can tell you I have been obsessing over suspension stuff for about 3 months. I have taked to hundereds of toyota owners looked over dozens upon dozens of trucks and shopped parts from quite a few parts houses. I've visited 4 or 5 dealerships 6 or 8 custom 4 wheel mechanic shops and twice as many tire places. Heck I spent 2.5 hours at toyota today shopping parts with their 4 wheel guy who has done hundreds of suspension lifts on very kind of toyota and wrapping with their Mechanics. I've checked outa hand full of 4WD clubs out here from tame to insane. I met people driving beat down old relic FJ40's to custom moon buggies. From a guy with a 140K TLC ICON to folks driving every thing in between.

I've spent way too much time on this sight and others like it.

I can tell you loads of people swear by the OME set ups. LOADS OF THEM!! Bill Burke runs an OME set up on his defenders . the guy with the 140K ICON has OME on that & he runs them on his FZJ80 and his 4 runner as well (this guy can afford ANYTHING!!!) guess what his young boy runs on his 07 taco?

Every one who I've talked to who has run The IVD stuff past & present RAVES about that stuff as well. I guy I met who has driven toyota 4 WDs for decades told me the IVD UCA and coil over set he is running on his 4 runner is the best set up he has driven on ever.THis guy runs John bull on a lark and had done the rubicon trail numbers of times.

Dont take my word for it but go look and ask around for yourself. preform your due diligence. heck ask chris 4x4 he runs on an ome set up himself. there iare a lot of good parts out there and just as much crap. the respected stuff has been and will be around for a while.
