Who has Tinnitus (ringing in your ears)? I do 24/7 and it is driving me crazy.. It's also caused me to develop bad sound sensitivities/noise irritabilities. Don't know how much more I can take.

    Anybody found any relief!?

I do. Acquired it after years of working in hanger bays. I've gotten used to it and as long as I have noise around it doesn't seem to bother me.

At least you're able to cope with it..

    Mine's service related too.
The way it sounds to me, I can't not hear it.. It is literally effecting my life.. I have no peace. It never goes away.

I don't believe there's treatment currently available for tinnitus. My dad's getting it pretty bad after being a drummer in 4-6 piece bands for 40 years. The distraction technique is the best one he's found. Soothing soft music is more tolerable than silence. I'm scared shitless of the condition. Earplugs, all day.

Unfortunately there is no relief. During the day it normally doesn't bother me as long as I'm busy. Watching tv, it sucks. Reading a book? Doesn't happen. Getting to sleep? Ha. I keep a tv and fan on year round and still hard to get to sleep because that is when it is the loudest. I've tried everything I can think of since 1993.

My father has. He developed it after having chemo and radiation treatments about 10 years ago. It's something he's learned to live with, but there are certain things at irritate him that used to not.

Have had it since I can remember. I do all the things you are not supposed to do. I drink caffeine, sometimes take aspirin, don't use earplugs all the time and listen to music too loud. Allergy season really makes it bad.

Had it since a year as an artilleryman. Gets worse, not better over time. If you are a veteran, it can be considered a disability. They can't treat it, but they might pay you for it.
I wear headphones to go to sleep every night.

I have it pretty bad, although it fluctuates day to day. My left is really bad, due to complications from a car accident about 10 years ago.

Acupuncture can help if you can find a good practitioner in your area.

Figure out what frequency your tinnitus is and find a white noise machine that makes noise in that frequency range.
I've read of many vets having success with this method on the DV FB page.

It won't help throughout the day (as you leave the machine) but it could help you sleep.

Yeah I've been to the VA about it.. They said there's nothing they can do to treat it..
It's in both my ears, sounds like a really high pitched frequencies.. I don't sleep well. Sounds wake me up, if I wear ear plugs it only (obviously) makes the tinnitus more noticeable.. I'm going to have to see if I can find a specialist to see about this, I can't deal with it anymore..

I've heard some people offing themselves bc they couldn't take it anymore or having their auditory nerve cut, making them deaf and still hearing it.. So from what I gather it's in your brain.

All I know is it's sucks bad, and when it's 24/7 and you can not get away from it, very difficult to deal with.

Hate to hear some of you have it.

I ran across a couple things talking about something like that.. From what I gather it could help "re wire" your brain not to hear it... Gonna have to look more into this.

I acquired mine as a side effect of taking narcotics for too long (pinched nerve, back surgery). It's annoying, but I mostly just try to ignore it.

I have had it in my right ear for quite a while now. Can hear it while watching TV or whatever.
Doesn't bother me really. Constant noise so I seem to be able to get to sleep easy. Have been
a mechanic for a long time so all the impacting etc plus motorcycling have contributed
    to mine.

Curious, how old are you guys? I'm creeping on 30 and have had the white noise ringing predominantly in my right ear and less in my left for the past 10 years. Extreme noise trauma when i was 16 and working in construction, machine shops and industrial equipment has not had a desirable effect.

Add another to the bunch suffering with this. Construction , chain saws, weedeaters and sirens and air horns haven't helped. I was told to go see a workman's comp lawyer.

Some days it is worse than others. I wish there was a cure.

    Try this for temporary relief:

Place the palms of your hands over your ears with fingers resting gently on the back of your head. Your middle fingers should point toward one another just above the base of your skull. Place your index fingers on top of you middle fingers and snap them (the index fingers) onto the skull making a loud, drumming noise. Repeat 40-50 times. Some people experience immediate relief with this method. Repeat several times a day for as long as necessary to reduce tinnitus.
