How a guy like Phil Kessel can play in the NHL, let alone win a stanley cup, is a miracle. The guy is the farthest thing from being 'athletic'

Kessel is one of those guys who will always look like he ate too many cheeseburgers yet will burn just about anyone with his speed.

I have often wondered though how insanely fast the guy would be if he went into a program like the one Gary Roberts runs. If he could get to his peak physical form I have no doubt that he would finally earn the hype and get to 50 goals.

Congrats Will and this is coming from a life long Penguins fan(was born in Pittsburgh,PA.)!I picked the Penguins to win in seven and after game five(as horrible as Murray was to start)i questioned and was concerned myself for the Penguins and how explosive the Sharks picked it up!Penguins defense prevailed in making it happen!Your Sharks will build obviously off of this and will be even more of a nemesis in the Western Conference and more!

The funny thing is though in December the guy was a goat. Now this deal will look good for Pittsburgh, and it didn't hurt the Leafs any, whether or not Phil goes back to his half assed ways when times get tougher.

The way I see it, Kessel had excessive expectations placed upon him in Toronto. Crosby and Toews don't win on a shitty team either. I agree that there is no question that Toronto had no need for him. It was a difference making trade though.

I was pretty much good with just beating the Kings, after that it was just a huge added bonus.

If Jones would have reached game 7 I believe could have happened. When was the last time a losing playing won? I imagine it has been awhile.

Have to say, I was pulling for the Sharks. They were hammering the Penguins throughout most of the game but just couldn't get shots to the net, and when they did Murray came up big. Murray's got a starting career ahead of him now, that's for damn sure.

Jones was equally amazing but when it came to scoring chances, the Pens capitalized. Still though, San Jose has a star in net now and I imagine they'll be contenders for the foreseeable future.

Now I just have to suffer through the worst time of year; summer...no hockey :frusty:

That's the hope. Just need to shed some more of the deadwood, and mistakes (of the previous idiots) - then hopefully I'll actually have something to watch beyond April.

Hmm I'd disagree in some ways and agree in others. Kessel isn't a leader nor is he a great clutch player when he's placed in first line duties. TO wanted him to do both those things and he was never going to be either of those things.

However he could of at least back checked consistently and played hard every night. He didn't even do those things sometimes when the Leafs were playing well. Pittsburgh can start counting the days until the old Phil shows up again. It doesn't matter anyways though, as you said he clearly was a key acquisition that helped them win the cup this year. Who cares if he stops back checking in a year or two when he checks out from what Sidney and the coach are saying. He was worth it now big time and that's all that matters.

Edmonton needs a culture change. It's time to unload some of their offensive assets that haven't panned out for some proven defensive and leadership type talent.

Kessel's constant " I'm about to die " drama on the bench after every shift is really annoying
