Sorry about that buddyo. There are so many disciplines that I tried to stick with the main groups. But thou are not forgotten.

Any engineers in California that have worked with/around flares for oil and gas?

Figured there were enough in here, maybe I'd get a ping from one of you.

With my graduation just around the corner I figured I would share my grad photo.

I must say, the feeling of completion is surreal. This world will throw every hurdle possible in your way to make you fail.

Working towards a general engineering degree ( mainly focused on machanical and electrical). I go to Loras College which has about 400 kids per class. Theres about 10 per grade for engineering.

For those mechanical engineers out there...

I'm a college student going for mechanical engineering. As much as people say they love their job at Boeing or Bosch or some of these companies, what all do you do on a daily basis exactly? I'm looking into the manufacturing business. Bosch I am hoping for specifically. I never understood what mechanical engineers actually "do".

Probably the most diverse engineering field.
I've spent almost 30 years in 2 different companies as a manufacturing engineer. First was a smaller company making industrial diamond tools- dressing & grinding tools. Probably the most fun I had in my career as it was all new to me. Did a little of everything - CAD design of products and tooling; CNC programming; purchasing & running new machinery, working with customers. Very hands on.
Started up a new product line, and added production supervisor to the mix. A big part of manufacturing is troubleshooting - equipment problems, mistakes, etc.
Didn't care for the supervisory part, and after 8 years was pretty burned out. Took a nine month hiatus, part of which was spent traveling around the country.
Next was a company manufacturing aerospace bearings. Larger company and not wearing so many hats, so less stressful. More variety of processes & equipment, tighter tolerances to work to, lots more people to work with.
Off & on still doing CAD design, lots more troubleshooting, process development & improvement. Currently providing engineering support for several different production areas. A lot of that is "can't get these parts into spec what do we do?" kinds of issues. Work with equipment vendors & subcontractors(we do most of our manufacturing in house, but do have a few parts made outside as well as special processes such as plating & other coatings.)
We have other ME's as application engineers- working with customers to design bearings for their applications; another group does gauge design & support; metallurgical & heat treat; & some of our management & quality control people have an ME background.
Not all of it is glamorous or exciting, sometimes gets stressful, but every job has its moments.
