So last night at about 1 in the am, my wife and I were laying in bed talking and I thought I heard a car door outside. I said wait a sec. and I looked out one window and saw nothing then my wife said "there's a truck in our driveway!" I looked real quick and was like WTF?!
So I grabed my AR real quick and went to look out the bathroom window, its right next to the front porch, and I couldnt see anyone. then I heard a real soft knock...then the handle started to jiggle...I peeked around the corner and saw a man through our front door window! I tought "oh shit im about to have to kill someone!" well after about a min, it seemed like forever, He left. Thank god our door was locked
I dont know who the fuck this guy was or what he thought he was doing at my house at 1 in the morning but it scared the shit out of us! My wife said that it looked like he had a can in his hand, maybe a beer. IDK maybe he was drunk and was at the wrong house? maybe he met a girl at the bar and ended up at the wrong house?

I have 3! and before I kept it in the case under the bed, after that shit its now ready to go proped up in the corner. Ill be going to the gun store today and looking at either a pistol or a shotgun with a pistol grip. I want something easier to move around with than a AR15

scary, nothing grips me with more fear then a situation in my home. glad to hear he left.

i too have had the same thing happen but on a funnier level. i just lay down to got to sleep, take off my contacts(can't see without them), and right as i'm dozing off someone starts banging on the front door. scared the bejesus out of me. can't find my glasses, stumbling to grab my gun, i look like a fool. check the door and guess who it is- my mother in law. she just wanted to talk to my wife. i had gun in hand and asked her not to bang on door cause i was gonna shot her, turned out kind of funny when i look back at it.

IT sounds like to me he had the wrong house! Were you able to see if there was more than 1 person? It even sounds like when he gently jiggled the door and a phone call at about the same time then he may have been checking to see if his wife was at home and if he was in trouble. Why would he leave if he couldn't get in? Don't shoot the dumb bastard unless he comes in the house and you think he's armed. If you shoot him make sure there is only one story to tell the police when they show up. If your wife shoots him she can shoot him while he's trying to get in. Juries are pretty sympathetic to that kind of stuff. Poor helpless females. Hell if it happened at my house I'd open the door and tell my wife get'm then leave and take the guys truck so he would have to run away "if" he got away on foot.

If the phone rang did you get a caller ID on him....let us know if you discover who and what happened and make sure you call law enforcement..they may know who this is by the description of the vehicle or the MO this guy was using.

Thnk God he didn't touch your taco. Shoot'm no matter what if they do that...I'll hang the jury if I can get on it....:D

    To elaborate:

    Keep the doors locked.
    Don't answer the door.
    Call 911
Get you & your family as far away from the stranger as possible.
Don't automatically assume the gun is gonna be your saving grace. All it takes is one bullet and that bullet could already be in your chest before you get a chance to react.

You need to get you a Judge. My father in law has one and it is bad A$$. I am sure you know already but it can shoot a .410 shell and a .45 in the same chamber and you can load both at the same time. The perfect home defense pistol in my opinion. If the .410 doesn't stop them then hit them with the .45 and it will surely stop them.

Get a dog, a shepard or lab. My dogs would bark their heads off and alert me to someone long before I would hear it myself.

x2, you must assume that the person trying to enter your home is armed too. I already have it planned out if it happens in my home. My wife and dog would lock themselves in the closet with the phone and call the police while I crouch behind my bed with my gun. I can use the bed as a form of defense but hopefully the intruder would never make it upstairs.
