Just saw these and am interested. My co-worker foolishly bought a Yeti Hopper for $299.99 and swears by it so if I come across one of these i'll drop the $60. My WalMart needs to get some stock though, can't even find the freaking coolers!

A standard cooler will hold ice for 2+ days. A lot of people buy coolers for under 24 hours. No real reason to spend $200 on a 70qt roto cooler when a standard 70qt cooler will work just fine for them for under $50.

Even more of a reason not to buy a roto lol.

The tumblers are a good deal because they're similarly priced to single wall cups that hold ice for an hour and heat for even less.

    But the coolers...eh.

If you REALLY need to keep things cold for a long period of time (only thing I can think of is meat), you're better off buying a 12v portable fridge.

Nothing more truer than this. The OT coolers I bought (and reviewed here on TW) will never replace my Indel B 50q portable fridge but they do help save space in it...which was why I bought the coolers to begin with. But like you say, did I really need a roto? No...but nice to have for that one time it's necessary.

The tumblers on the other hand, a definite must buy!

I mean rotos are nice if you're super tough on your stuff, but if you keep it in your truck bed or pull it out and set it beside you, the "durability factor" of a roto is lost. Plus those numbers are basically done without them being opened and ideal conditions. If you open your cooler a lot, kiss your 5 days of ice goodbye.

Meat/food absolutely has to be kept under 40 degrees unless you feel like having the squirts. Other than that, your coke/water/beer will be just fine at 50 degrees in a coleman after 5 days.

Ask @MTgirl how her RTIC worked last trip out.

Timmy got the links above. Maybe I was expecting too much, maybe not. What good is a cooler if you can't open it from time to time to retrieve food and drinks? Not giving up on it just yet though, that was only trip #2

Maybe I should fill my cooler with ice and throw it in the back of the truck for a few days to test it out. I've got a black camper shell that turns into an oven when the sun is out...plus it'll be mid-90's all week here.

RTIC is what I was going to go with if these OT coolers don't work out...

You've got a Yukon right? Should be comparable...happy with the ice retention vs cost of cooler?

Yep, Yukon 70, thanks, I couldnt remember. It seems comparable in construction. I am happy with it, it does well for sitting outside in a black shell.......I add small blocks of ice to it as often as my freezer will churn them out....

I went to my local walmart and they had 3 of these so I had to buy one. I'm pretty impressed with the quality. It doesn't have quite the durability feel of the yeti or the special waterproof zipper but for 1/6 of the price its pretty good. Definitely is more like a knockoff of the RTIC Softpak ($99).
