Hi guys, I'm new to the site but have really enjoyed all of the useful information so far.

I took my 2016 Tacoma in to the dealership for a vibration/clicking noise today. They just called me back after 6 hours and said that my body mounts are bent. I only have 3,800 miles on the truck. I've never heard of this problem but the technician said this is the second 2016 Tacoma they have seen with the same problem. I would think this is a factory defect. Could this cause other problems down the road? They are taking care of fixing the problem but I am just not knowledgeable about bent body mounts.

Has anyone else had this issue?

***1. Update: Bent Body Mount Brackets is the diagnosis, he has to order the parts and the dealership will install them on Friday. I'll try to get the old brackets and post a pic.

    Bummer...
    What were the symptoms?
I can't recall any body mount threads, but there are quite a few mystery clunk reports from the front passenger suspension area.

Body mounts are rubber so that they flex. They can't be bent. Mechanic is full of shit and wants to empty your wallet. I replaced mine, so I know exactly what they look like and how they work. They might be cheap rubber garbage, but they can't be bent.

Maybe he meant the sheetmetal where the body mounts is bent. Also, it's under warranty, not sure they are emptying any wallets other than Corporate's...

    Body mounts? Or bed mounts?

Ask him to show you the old parts. Post pics.

Have you considered a buy-back offer from Toyota?
This is the only remedy you should accept.

Do you need to know, or care?
Where does that statement from Toyota come from and what kind of environmental factors would result in bent body mounts?

That was not a real statement. My post was intended to mock the OP using nonsense posted in this thread.

Those are usually welded to the frame. Last thing I would want this then torching the frame and welding new ones on. Maybe the tacomas are different. Either way I would be pretty pissed. Anyone have pictures of their body mount brackets? Perhaps they is part of the reason we are seeing people with cab/bed alignment issues?

Maybe I'll stick with a full size

The cab/ body mounts are welded on the frame the body mount is molded into the sheet-metal of the body. with a body bushing in the middle. I think the terminology or the name that were calling things is obviously different because no way they got bent and no way the dealer would try to change those and you probably can't get them separate.

Wait, what?? Tacoma forum... your sig says FORD?? WTF?

First, haven't seen any bed alignment issues that didn't look like someone's bumper wasn't well bumped and tried pass it off as some sort of defect that just showed up one day??

Body mount brackets... how would they get bent? likely someone dropped the truck down on a lift from 6' full speed drop. It's a 4wd truck, thats going to be a hard sell to me if it was my truck. I'd be asking how in the world that could actually happen and watch the service managers eyes drop to the floor and lie his ass off. Just sayin...

Just looked at mine... no way the BRACKET gets bent... that would have to be some very serious stress and the welds would break first, pics or it never happened. There's bushings maybe they are cracked not the mounts. Seriously there's some stink to this thread .... someone is bullshitting so I call it!

That is a great plan. The incoherent ramblings of someone on the internet really helped you dodge a bullet today.

Ugh ...yet another thread with piles of bad info and people not reading between the lines or terminology of the OP because they are more interested in being instant forum bullies than providing an actual solution.

OP - not saying this is for sure what it is but it seems that the dealer is probably referring to the body mount bushing not " bracket". They may be calling it that but it is simply a rubber bushing with some washers that is sandwiched between the body and the cab mount on the frame. The body mount bushings are in fact notorious for being worn out or flattened out even on brand new trucks still on the lot. ( BTW - this is the #1 cause of the infamous " taco lean " and crooked bumpers and hoods too. ) The left front core wall body bushing that is right under the battery is the worst and that bushing can be squashed by a full 1/4" = the mount is then very loose. Although I have not heard this about the 2016's yet it is super common on the 2005's and up ( all second gens ).

The easiest way to diagnose this yourself is to simply grab a tape measure and measure the gap between your body mounts and the cab. There are 6 body mounts - 2 out at the core wall ( radiator core support wall ) 2 right at back of your front wheel wells and 2 right at the very back corner of the cab. So IE: the most common problem is that the right front core wall bushing is around a 1/2" but the drivers side one under the battery has been flattened to just 1/4".

    Just looked at mine.
Bottom of the top bushings, there are thin stamped brackets that bolt to the frame.

Wow, newsflash guys I am not a mechanic. The repair is scheduled for this Friday, Toyota had to order the parts. I will update this thread with the old parts if I can get a pic as well as the detailed invoice.
