Nevadabugle's Conservative Overland Build and Trip Reports with BS...

Well here goes...I've been meaning to start this build page for a long time. I come from a slightly different approach than most builds. For starters I am not in to big lifts with big tires. I have always looked at simple function over looks. All the lifts I have done in the past have been mild and intended more for the improved offroad ride not just gaining 3" and the ability to clear 35s. I've always felt that leaving main drive train parts as close to stock configurations is a good idea for reliability.

So here is the beginning of my Conservative Build. But fret not there will be tons of cool mods by the time I'm done.

I'll update the first 4 posts in this thread as I complete items of my build. If an item is in bold then it is completed, if not then it is planned.

All of the mods I am completing are in anticipation of my 2017 Trans Nevada overland trip where I am planning on driving the entire North to South length of Nevada without covering a single mile of pavement. I have my tentative route planned at the moment but need to refine it a bit. Looks like it will be an 800 mile dirt road route. Cant wait.

 

I've added more pics in posts 2-5. My RTT should arrive today and I will be picking up my Prinsu bedrac on Friday. Shovel, Axe, and highlift mounts will probably have to get moved once I get the bedrac installed.

My CVT Mount Shasta Extended Series tent with Annex arrived today. Excited to get the bedrac and the tent installed. I'm driving to SLC on Saturday morning to pick up the Prinsu Bedrac. I'm bringing my RTT with me and plan to install it immediately after the bedrac goes on. Cant wait!

 

Would really like to see the map of the trail/route you plan on taking. Sounds like a good trip.

 

I'll definitely share. I may actually pic your brain a bit. My northern and central nevada route is pretty solid, but I have some questions on southern nevada.

Nice build, I had the 07 dclb with relentless bumpers and a bed rack that I built with a Tepui tent on top. It's sitting at Gallager now after I traded it for a 15 Tundra. Need to focus more on my 85 4Runner than my daily driver for beating up off-road.

 

I think I saw you around elko with that Tepui set up. I saw it parked in front of the Star a few times.

 

You probably saw it at the firehouse too.

 

Saturday can't get here soon enough to pick up my bedrac and get my tent installed. I'm heading directly from SLC down to Ely to start scouting for my wife's archery bull tag.

 

RTT's are awesome, you'll love it. I plan on doing a trailer after the 4Runner is farther along. Also started on a bedrack for the Tundra the other day.

 

Here are some shots of my camping organization. I've updatedone the photos above also. I like it because all of the cases and boxes sit almost flush with the bed rails. I may have to reorganize once the bedrac is on because I'm not sure where my secondary spare will mount.
