I get phone calls one or sometimes two times a week from Credit Card Services. It's usually a man with a thick eastern accent who says they want to reduce my interest rate and help me consolidate my bills and save me money. They usually ask for my credit card expiration date, credit card number, that 3 digit code on the back of the card and how much I owe on my credit cards. The really strange thing is they usually hang up right away when I tell then I have zero balance on all my cards.

Why don't they want to give me a lower interest rate?

Why do they keep hanging up?

Because they have an incoming call from someone responding to the message they left informing that person about an IRS judgement.

Sometimes I play along and give them a bogus credit card number etc., then they say;"Sir your credit card number did not go through." and I say; "Do you have my name entered correctly?", then they say; "What is your name sir?", and I say; "Special Agent Johnson with the Federal Bureau of Investigation". I usually don't even get a chance to finish saying my "name" before I hear a click when they hang up.

It's a scam I'm sure. I no longer answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, most of them don't leave messages so I know they are up to no good.

One of my favorite ones is when I get a call from the "U.S. Grant Department". They say they are giving away $5000 tax free money that you never have to pay back. All they need to know is which bank account to deposit it in.

Almost all of the numbers that show up from these calls are spoofed. When I try calling them back I usually get a message saying it is a non working Verizon wireless number.

FYI ... Morgan & Morgan in Atlanta are advertising that any unwarranted telephone call is worth $1,500.00 per call litigated under the new laws.

FYI ... Morgan & Morgan = ForThePeople.com for more details.

Research and register at US government website ... "Do Not Call List" ... and file a complaint and see if you can collect $1,500.00 per call.

These calls have gone crazy again in last 6 months and are making me nuts on my home & cell telephone numbers.

Great if the calls can actually be traced to a working number. If the number is spoofed I'm not sure if even the phone company can trace where the call is actually coming from. For all I know it is originating overseas like many of todays outsourced customer support and telemarketing companies call centers are. Good info though.

I get calls from Jamacians saying Sir you've just won a trip to Hawaii calling my 808 area code phone number. All I have to is pay the taxes and I'm good to go. I laugh and play along for a few minutes just to piss them off.

Too funny! Jamaica is a shit hole (compared to Hawaii). They might just as well offer you a free trip to Haiti or the Dominican Republic.

That's why I love it so much I laugh and say either I am a Hawaii resident or a FBI agent or I just fuck with them for a bit. Depending on my mood.

Same here. I use it as unexpected cheap entertainment as well as an opportunity to fuck with people rude enough to use robo calls to dial random people. :luvya:

Funny I get the same guy constantly. I mess with him so much it's funny. He really gets upset when you reference his mom and anal. My girlfriend says he will try to kill me one day. I bet he calls once a week.

Yeah, there was this one guy, whose voice and accent I recognized, that called several different times and tried to mess with me for messing with him several different times. He told me he was from Cuba and I couldn't trace his calls or find him. I told him I really didn't care and was just trying to piss him off. I must have had him on the phone for more than 30 minutes one time while he listened to me take a piss, flush the toilet etc. He hasn't called back since.

I keep getting the calls from various numbers, usually from Asheville, N.C., or Greensboro, that never leave a message on my machine, but they won't hang up until I start getting the "Disconnected call" tone on the phone.
Even when I do answer, there is never anyone on the line. Anyone else get these calls?

Well...YEAH! It's the easiest way for them to steal your credit card number charge it to the max, that is if people are dumb/gullible enough to give that info out to a complete stranger over an unsolicited phone call. o_O

How about the guy from Microsoft that wants to help you fix your computer. I tell him I have a MAC and he says he will fix that too . I tell him to wait while I turn on the computer and then just set the phone down and walk off.
