I'm new to long travel and never really thought of it. Do they have to have the flared out fenders?

Pretty sure SAS and long travel are close in $$$$$ to build.....but if all you want the extra "lift/height" for is looks then go with your original DB plan :anonymous:.....it really depends on what you want to use your truck for.....but if you were even considering going SAS then you must want to wheel like a pro :D So for now stick with a good mid-travel and save your dollars to get your SAS done eventually

There's all sorts of people on here that give all sorts of opinions pushing certain products. I've learned to take TW, and especially this thread, with a dump truck of salt....

Mine Hankooks have a bunch of cuts like that where they hit the front corner of the front fender. Are you confident they're not rubbing? Just extra siping anyways.

How many miles do you have on those? Surprised to see that much wear, seems like you just put those on fairly recently.

why are you wanting more height? do you desire more ground clearance for wheeling, do you want bigger tires, or is it mainly for looks? Nothing wrong with wanting it for looks but answering these questions will help you get a good answer not a bunch of !!!!!!!! from people.

Yessir. I was initially concerned they would be too stiff, but have been very happy with how they've performed.

well you can definitely fit 35" tires on a 3" lift, it is a lot of work to make it worth while offroad. I do have a friend who has been driving with 35s on the street only and no firewall tub and its fine, full lock it rubs a lot but for 95% of the time its fine. That is with a maxed out 3" lift.

personally I like the look of a low lift with big tires.
    image.jpg

if you want big tires and a big lift just for looks then either go with a drop bracket like you originally wanted or maybe even a body lift. At least the body lift will be easier to take off if you decide down the road its not what you want.

in that picture I was on Icon coilovers with 1" preload, camburg uca's, and all pro expo rear. tires were 315/75/17

now I have a solid front axle with slightly more lift and 37" tires.

Pardon if this is a stupid question... But I've always wondered why the "pumpkin" on the front axle on a sas is off to the side? Wouldn't that put the driveshaft at a weird angle? Idk just curious

It's not from rubbing, it's the center of the rear tire.

I'm not sure of the mileage, I had it written somewhere but lost it on the move. I've only had them about a year but put a lot of miles on them in that time.

no stupid questions, if your truck is 4x4 go look underneath it. Behind the transmission is the transfer case that is what splits power front/rear, the rear shaft comes straight out to the rear end. The front shaft is offset on the tcase so it clears the rest of the drivetrain. Your stock ifs front diff or "pumpkin" is offset like that also you just cant really see it.

So I'm in the process of treating my steel boat trailer with Ospho to stop the rust. After I finished with the trailer I decided to do a test spot on my trucks frame. This stuff is pretty darn incredible.

Obviously the black section is what I treated with ospho. All I did was lightly scraped the frame with a wire brush and then painted it on. I'll have to paint on top of it but this stuff is pretty good so far!

Travel is already kinda weak on these trucks. If you lift them, there goes your up travel.

Fit the biggest tires on the smallest lift you can. Unless you want to dump $3k into your front end for long travel.
