Anyone know much about tearing a dryer apart or is it just easier to buy a new one

Tearing it apart is easy, putting it back together is where the challenge is.

If its just the drum belt that easy to replace same with the motor it attaches to. You get at it from the back tin sheet plate. Remove all of the screws and remove and you will see the guts. The motor and the belt are just like an old type water pump on a car. If it's the controller your just screwed, cheaper to replace the dryer.

The drive belt is available from an applience supply shop,look one up as they are common in most cities. You loosen the motor mounts and slip off the old and add the new. You can get by for quite a while by applying belt dressing to the old belt as they sometime get glazed from the heat. A little acetone on the belt works wonders.

 

It works fine it just squeals , I thought maybe there was a back cover I could pull off but it looks like you have to lift the whole body off

 

That's what I was gonna try to see if that helped first but I didn't know I was gonna have to pull the whole thing apart to find the belt

 

It's actually pretty easy just have to find the attachment points and get some friends to help lift.

 

Alright so if I take all the screws out around the body it should lift up off ?

 

My last one had a panel on the back, but not sure about the new one.
