The ribbed fits under the stock plastic skin and we actually no longer offer the smooth one. Ribbed vs smooth sales were almost 25 to 1 so we stopped stocking the smooth ones.

There are a few left with minor scratches in them that we are willing to part ways with for a discount but no, we have no more and are not making them anymore. They sales on smooth vs ribbed just doesn't justify offering smooth anymore. We want to stock these parts in high volumes and it makes more sense to stock one vs two different types.

No I did not do the hardware upgrade. I think that may be in the cards if I decide to do the reinforced tailgate cap install though.

As far as how did it go, it was almost to easy to call it a "mod" almost as easy as putting a sticker on the back window:rofl: it literally took me longer to get my tools out and put them up than it did to do the swap. All it took was a torx bit and an impact driver. It could have been done with a screw gun but I didn't realize that the screws attached to recessed nylon nuts. I'm pretty sure it was less than 15 minutes, not even a second beer of the day job.

It's a great piece, it fit perfectly and I got to use it for work today and it was as good or better for what I wanted it for.

Free bump for you guys! I just ordered mine, got the free cap -- total out the door was $240 or so with the hardware kit.

Thank you guys for building a very nice website easy to use and easy to navigate. Its very pleasant to deal with! Excited to install it!

Thanks for the compliments. I agree on the website, my partner @jowybyo built it. It is the first site he has ever done and let me tell you, he did a better job on the site than sites I have been on that belong to multibillion dollar companies.
