I live in a blue town in a red state. Among my local friends and acquaintances, I have 1 buddy who owns firearms, an AR among them. We're both from rural towns and are baffled by some of the blind gun hate in this town.

Assemble quality lower. But quality upper or assemble own upper. You'll be under 600.

Yea man I understand your gripe, hear it loud and clearly here!

A lot of myths and lies are thrown around with in the firearm world, for both sides of the spectrum from the pro gun and anti gun!

    Step-parents & in-laws...
1920s LC Smith double barrel 12 ga.
    1950s S&W .38 special
    1950s Llama .32
    1965 Remington Wingmaster 16 ga.

My dad taught me proper firearm safety and maintenance. I started shooting rifles and
Shotguns on the farm around 8 years old after demonstrating safety with a BB gun and fielding dove and quail for a few seasons. I was allowed to move to handguns when I was a teenager, same time I started dove and deer hunting with family owned Browning Sweet 16 and a .270. We keep an arsenal for bird hunting and deer rifles are passed around the family. My dad keeps his firearms to himself though. He probably has nearly 100 at this point. Mostly high powered revolvers, state issued handguns and retired swat & riot firearms. He has a large collection of vintage LEO revolvers that belonged to our grand and great-grandfathers who served as police chiefs and sheriffs for generations.

I've done the same with my son. We've dismantled firearms and I've explained the how & why of each part. We rehash the rules weekly. He is practicing proper safety with a wooden pump shotgun (he's 5). He's shot a 22 rifle a few times but has to earn his way to a proper firearm with age and maturity. He has a hand me down 410 waiting for him when he's older. I keep my firearms and ammo locked up in a gun safe with keys hidden.

I hope I've answered your query and I hope to not derail this thread. Only
Hoping to gain some good insight and information before going to the shop and plunking down some dough. Thanks y'all!

I've only managed to convince 1 anti-gun friend to go target shooting with me. She's from Mass. and was vehemently anti-gun. I took her out and she shot everything we brought. She had a blast, and while she hasn't bought any firearms herself, her opinion towards them has changed for the positive.

signup for Freedom Munitions and/or Palmetto State Armory emails (i think it prompts you when you visit the site) but they send out daily email deals. Usually 10% off certain calibers. Watch for their free shipping emails and just buy in bulk. And PSA usually has blem stripped lowers on sale. Not sure if you built your rifle yet but cant hurt to get some more :D

You can also find good deals on Slickguns and Gunbot.net, Although the past few times Ive found decent stuff on Gunbot it ends up already being sold out. Not sure how often they remove old deals.

Is this what they are talking about now?

First I find it ignorant and a bullshit knee jerk reaction as always. This is going to get real interesting since this is moving more to the States to in act laws for AR's....

I have an ALG ACT trigger in AR build. I like it a lot. ALG are the initials of the wife of Geissele. It's like Amy Lynn Geissle or something like that.

Trust me it's not far off i'm sure. If you are going to buy one pick one up now because they will go up soon I am already seeing increase in costs in Va about $200 bucks since Sunday. I grew up in Fl and I'm sad at whats happening to my home State over the years.

I just heard the our Governor and 2A henchman Terry Mcauliffe is putting together some knee jerk EO at the moment as we speak. A lot of people in the State of Va are on pins and needles as to what this will be as he has been working with Md lawmakers that passed legislation in Md.

Dont want to get political but what I see happening is the GOP and will compromise with increased back ground checks and no go for people on the no fly list and terror list.

I dont think they would ever ban AR's for the simple reason is look at the massive industry built around them. That would vanish overnight. Im not a huge gun nut but I own an AR. Every shop I walk into is wall to wall AR's/AK's. Thats thousands of jobs and tax revenue that a lot of states won't walk away from.
