There will be lots of salvageable players at decent cap hits available I'm sure. If not, like I said, they could always go below the cap since the draft will be in the summer when teams don't have to follow the salary cap rules. Then before the season they could trade for contracts to bring them up to the floor and grab draft picks.

I'm sure the expansion team will have people who are smart enough to figure that out.

I'm sure the Flames have feelers on a lot of goalies. I've heard they are going to try for Reimer and that they have reached out to the Leafs about Bernier as well. I think at this point they are exploring what's available and how much it would cost them. The sad thing is that, other than Reimer, I don't think there are a whole lot of top end number 1's available to begin with. The league is too big for the amount of goalie talent available.

Very true. We've talked about that a few times. I would think Anaheim might finally deal one now rather than lose one in the expansion draft. What's the asking price though? Do the Flames want to give up one of their key prospects in return because that's what Anaheim will ask for...

You have to admit though the league has several teams with terrible goaltending.

 

I would think Anaheim would be looking for a solid scoring winger instead of a prospect...
