I debated for about a week whether or not to have the rock sliders professional powder-coated or to paint them myself. I got several quotes from around the Bay Area and the cheapest was $250 and the most was $400. I chose to paint them myself not only to save money, but I can also so I can touch them up as they get scratched and dinged up along the way.
    IMG_0219-1.jpg

I wet-sanded the sliders to remove the dirt/grime/grease/rust. Pelfreybilt must have a lot of steel sitting around at their shop for extended periods of time because the sliders were pretty filthy (to be expected from a shop metal shop). There was also a fair amount of surface rust on the bottom of the sliders, like they were sitting on a damp floor.

You can see the one on the left has been sanded and rinsed.

I then sprayed both sliders with a degreaser and let them soak for a bit. I wiped them down thoroughly and let them dry.

First coat of primer has been applied.

Installed my pelfreybilt Rock Sliders. Overall the installation was very easy. It took me several days to prep the metal, spray the primer, and then spray the bed liner, but I think it took me longer to pull the tools out and decipher the directions than to actually install them. I think they turned out looking great considering how much less expensive spray on bed-liner is compared with professional powder coating. The coating may not be as durable, but at least I can touch it up.

The directions provided by Pelfreybilt were vague to say the least. There is a part that says "The large bolt plates are side specific." No photos are provided and no more information is there to explain which bolt plate goes on which side. I was able to figure it out, obviously, but it would have been nice to not have to hunt around for the answer.

    Better photos to come.
