Haha used to use it in the Navy all the time, but yeah, now when I use it I get the weirdo looks. Oh well!

 

My particular career field requires you to have been a veteran to qualify for the position... let's just say there are alot of less than politically correct conversations on a nightly basis.

 

Haha pretty much the same here. Although I got called out on OT last night as i said, while talking to my relief some random dude in the control room I've never met comes up, dead serious, "Can you please watch your language, my ears are burning and you've been cursing alot!" Initially i said "hey sorry, used to be a Sailor, it comes with the territory" then he just kept repeating how sensitive his ears were, I was dumbfounded. Dude, you FUCKING work at a FUCKING oil refinery, lol, you're in the wrong line of work if a little cursing hurts "your sensitive ears". What pissed me off is while he was 'berating' me for it, all the guys that work his crew are in the other room cursing up a storm shooting the shit. Find out later hes 'that guy' on the shift nobody really talks to. Ugh. Glad I'm not on that crew!

 

I don't think I could go back to a "normal" job after this one. I'm probably the most insensitive vulgar guy in the room 90% of the time and every night someone says something that makes me think "yep... your going to hell"

 

I work with 3 sailors by the way. One Seabee, one "green" Medic and a munitions guy. They have stories from far away lands that make me blush. If I was 18 and full of piss and vinegar I would go Navy.

 

Yeah, glad I chose what I chose, it made me who I am today, I guess some civilians just cant handle very many F bombs in so short of time

I get told that often by my wife! I usually end up saying 'Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffudge' when I realize my 1 year old is around lol

 

I have a 7 month old and my filter (or lack thereof) concerns me.

 

There aren't as many F-bombs in my ER, but Let's just say we have to help each other pass the yearly sexual harassment compliance module.

 

I've learned in my experience with nurses that nothing grosses them out and no bodily function or fluid is off limits to discussion. I can handle gore all day but hearing them talk about a prostitute with a wash rag up her vagina for 2 MONTHS had me gagging.

 

True story, my sister is a nurse, and she can gross me out woth pus and shit stories lol

 

I had a patient in ER the other night that left a Tampon in for 2 months...... no bueno....

 

....haha they were probably altered, septic and you had to take it out yourself?

 

I'd tell that skank to go digging and to not let me know if she needs anything.

Night before my work night. Anyone else flip flop every weekend? I stay on nights even on my days off in the winter but in the summer I sleep till about noon on my first day off and then go back to a dayshift schedule for the rest of my days off. I work 3 on 4 off, 4 on 3 off. I will probably stay up till 3 or 4 tonight and then sleep till about 2 and then go in from 1830-0730 and then be back to "normal".

 

I stay on schedule on my days off. If I have 3+ days off in a row I may flip. But to consistantly flip for a day or two is unhealthy and dangerous.
