Check your torque guys.........mine were looser than Pamela Anderson after Ron Jeremy stopped by. I am at 74 ft. lbs. now. I am guessing they were at the misprinted 37 ft. lbs.

up date: Toyota of HB. looked at my truck to get the parts ordered. here is the deal as per them. a lift over 2in and NO springs. Airbags must be off to do the recall. So feels like BS but what ever there across the street from where i live.

I do not have a lift but that is how Toyota of HB is playing this one.

I wonder if "Gimmee the damn parts and i'll have 'em installed elsewhere" would work?

I've got short patience for Toyota's weasel-like handling of warranty issues at times.

I am not sure why there is any discussion with this issue...From what I am reading, the leafs that are being put on are Sub-Par comapaired to what is already on your truck. So why are people still getting them replaced?

I am replacing mine because my leafs ends are pointing towards the ground. I tow a boat and have a Topper. Needless to say Im just waiting for mine to snap any day. I will probably be installing a toytec lift once I get my new leafs installed

I pull a Travel Trailer & a Pontoon Boat...I have a Shell and after market OME Rear Shocks and I added a ProComp AAL to compensate for the weight. When I can save the money or win the lotto, I want to replace my leafs w/ either Dakars or AllPros.....

my height is good too. No lift in the front. I think the problem is the people with the lift in the front. Really gotta raise the rear too. Regardless, I plan on doing 5100s and an AAL soon. Just not sure which leafs

In my case, I don't have the funds for a new set of springs. And my family is in my truck 90% of the time. So just because I want it to sit a little higher or hold a little more weight, doesn't make it worth it to me to risk a possible epic failure at highway speeds.

Mine was a big improvement over the 2+1. Plus, it was a safety recall along with the seat belts.

I'd have to agree. Just took a 2700 mile road trip through 4 states with two passengers and maybe 350 pounds of gear in the back. Ride was a hell of a lot better than before with the six clip 4 leaf than the disposable three clip, three leaf.

Ok. Got it fixed. After 5 days of no call back from the stealership, I walk-in to get some answers. Then proceeded a 5 minute yelling match between the "service technician" and myself....as he stated I did not have an AAL before bringing my truck to them....WRONG. Sooooo, I show him the invoice and parts list from my lift kit that clearly displays an AAL and he still doesn't believe me....WRONG again stealership. Finally the service manager walks over and someone belives me, the customer here. So Toyota agreed to buy the AAL and put it back on the truck for no cost to me.

Turns out I was the 1st of multiple Tacomas this was occurring to at the dealership as I was informed upon picking up my truck. Truck rides back to normal height and level, bed much more stiff as it was PRIOR to the stealership taking parts off that were not theirs. Morale of the story, stick to your guns and maybe take ride height measurements prior and post stealership working on your recalled leafs.

Glad to hear you got it worked out. I just got mine back from the dealer with new leafs but no aal. The tech didn't feel comfortable installing the aal. But I did get my aal back..lol

called and had them order them for my recall. went in on the scheduled appointment day only to get a phone call 3 hours later saying that since i have spacers in the front and rear that they "cant" do the recall. i know there are no spacers in the front and i have 2" spacers in the back. after getting into an argument with them about it, they called back and said i do in fact not have spacers in the front, but do have aftermarket suspension and the entire truck would have to be put back to stock before they would perform the recall.
i specifically asked, cant i just remove the spacers and have you do the repair? to which i was told, no, because they have to align the truck afterward. i even told them i have lifetime alignment and will take care of that by myself if it needs it. still wouldnt do it. been arguing with them back and forth. calling corporate tomorrow.

This type of stuff is up to the service manager, diff dealers have diff policies. Call around a few other dealers in your area and see what they say. I've personally done the recall with both blocks and add a leaf. Just had the customer pay for a new pin and 1hr labor(aal), no labor for block just pay for ubolts if old one can't be reused.

the service manager is claiming its not up to him and they have to follow procedure from corporate.

so obviously thats a load of bullshit right? like having to align my truck after replacing rear leaf springs?

Alignment is part of the recall, however this situation is different in all areas. It's presented as "whatever you are comfortable taking responsibility for". Therefore if something happens it's the dealers problem and not warrantable thru toyota ,no parts warranty bc of altered part(aal). The block is simple, just depends on how ubolts were cut.

Bullshit? Not necessarily, depending on what higher ups are tell them in that region. They HAVE to listen to what they're told. Sense all dealers are independently owned legally they can't be told how to run, but toyota can also pull out if they choose.
