Since the subject has been brought up; In order to get anything more than just a Saturday off, I have to plan well in advance, then put in for vacation time. Even at that, it's only a certain few months I can be away from here more than a day. It's just part of the job. So.....With that in mind, I'm going to start working up plans for a Harlan trip, sometime in early to mid October. We went last year and hit EXACTLY on the right weekend for peak color on the trees. My hope is to get a couple groups together for this. Of course, the TW Kentucky/Tennessee bunch, and a group of Expedition Portal regulars from central and northern Indiana. My wife and I want to EITHER rent one of the cabins, OR, take the Airstream camper. I'm finding out it's a BITCH towing it long distances, not to mention the logistical issues of parking it where we intend to end up after day one, then retrieving it after day 2. We're leaning towards a cabin at this point.

What I'd LIKE to do is, enter @ Evarts trail head, go all the way through to Putney, spend the night after a cook out, then go back through to Evarts on day 2, then head for home. There are a few alternate trails so we wouldn't have to cover the same ground in both directions, although, it seems like a completely different place when you reverse directions. It's an all day adventure going all the way from one entrance to the other.

Object is to MISS the Black Mountain "Fall Crawl" weekend. It gets kinda crowded then. LOTS of ATV/SBS/Crawlers/etc....And cabins are almost all already reserved.

I'm going ahead with plans to organize this trip. Will give follow up info as it becomes available. This isn't to say everyone can't do ANOTHER run, but I'm hoping to make this an epic trip....with as many of us as possible. Hope is to video as much as possible and post it on U-Tube/TW/Expedition Portal.

Please feel free to provide any additional input.

I'd probably be down for another Harlan meet as long as I don't have anything important going on the weekend. They'll more than likely be a video of our ride this weekend. Got a stabilizer that I didn't have for the one a couple years ago so it'll def look a little better.

I haven't heard anything from them since day before yesterday. They were about 90% sure of going. Only possible change would be if they left this afternoon and wheeled tomorrow, Saturday AND sunday, or just sat/sun. I made it clear that they needed to be ready to LEAVE Costco @ 10AM Sat if they did that meet up.

I'm still up in the air.....This is what happens when you let women have their say in planning. It would be a shorter drive for me to go to RRG. I'd MUCH rather do RRG.....I'll know for sure by tomorrow afternoon.

That's why you don't let women decide wheeling trips! Lol

This started out as me and my buddy going out to see how his XJ would do. Then my wife got word of the plan and included herself, which wasn't the worst thing in the world. Still a chance we could do whatever I wanted to do. Then my buddy started whining about not having a girlfriend any more. (broke up with long time GF about 6 months ago) My wife suggested that she invite a woman she works with, and that we would turn it into sort of a blind date.

The rest of my plans resembles how water swirls around when it's going down a drain.....

Nothing better than a blind date in the woods, sounds like it should be a plan!

Tomorrow is now gonna depend on TONIGHT.....Me and the buddy with the XJ are packing up and going on a recovery mission after work. A friend with a Nissan XTerra lost power in the woods near Bloomington Indiana. (He thinks it hydro locked) We're headed there to drag him out to the road, then get it on a trailer. Depending on how late we are, we may just stay in Bloomington for the night.
