Here's the final bill for everyone who was axing what the charges were for. I agree it's high, but less than they said it would be. Labor is a bitch at Toyota, but I feel they did a good job. Drives like new again, no damage. MOVING ON DOWN THE ROAD! Thanks for all the input fellow Tacoman's. ALways appreciate it.

I see that it says you have the new springs...did you get them replaced under the current recall?

Got new ones with the new frame back in March. They said these recall ones are the same and I don't need another set.

Good god you got ripped off. 3 hours labor for a 30 min job, and 125 an hour for labor? Ouch. Hope they at least gave you a reach around.

It's state law in MO. All Toyota dealers give HJ's upon pick up of vehicle. Totally worth the labor.

Some members just come across as pricks and like pouring salt into wounds. A perfect example the OP and his no value post.

they call them "stealerships" for a reason but OP clearly said he wasn't able to fix it and wanted it done by the dealership for piece of mind. I get that. My busy but! NOT Lazy ass won't even put wiper blades on myself. I pay for it and joyfully so. Everyone's time has value and if I choose to have someone else do my work that's my prerogative as was OP. Glad he's back on the road.

I had a dodge dakota that did that same thing. On mine, the swaged transition from rubber to metal gave way as I was leaving the driveway. I got about 1/2 mile before the truck would not move. Fixed the hose by carefully opening the swaged clamp, used rubber hose + hose clamps, and the truck ran fine for another 5 years. Not much chance anything was hurt in this scenario. The tranny had plenty of lubrication from the film remaining since it was not abused after the truck stopped. You should be good to go and most likely will see no transmission damage. I will say that 500 bucks is a bit outrageous. You can fix with rubber hose, or you can buy a new cooler line if it is part of the line that is metal. Wouldn't be surprised if the hose just blew off the barbed connectors to the secondary cooler, due to a loose clamp.

    Reserected from the dead.

This. The tranny went empty of enough fluid to make the truck move. It did not go dry. Fix the hose, fill the transmission to proper level with the proper fluid and drive it for another 100,000 miles.

On the plus side, you got an expensive transmission fluid exchange. Consider it a win.

I think everyone won on this deal.

Why are they "checking fluid level cold"?
