I have a 2015. Bought the truck with a bug deflector and other extras. I was cruising Dow the highway at about 120km/h and the deflector snapped in half. Noticed it made some scuffs on the hood from the clip mounts. Should I persue warranty for paint and the OEM product? image.jpg

I think you're going to have a tough time proving that you didn't hit something causing the failure, but, if you genuinely believe that it failed because manufacture defect, then hell yeah go for the warranty claim.

Could be a hard sell at the dealer with "I was driving on the highway and it just snapped" with a truck built like yours.

Yeah true enough. But that is the truth. Either way I want the paint fixed. That's more than the deflector. You guys have valid points

I really doubt an accessory of that nature has a warranty. Do you have paperwork stating it does?

It can't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm not saying I wouldn't ask. I just wouldn't be surprised for them to deny it. Best case scenario you get a new guard, I highly doubt they will touch the paint.

Everyone knows those things destroy the paint. I bet they don't replace it or offer to repair paint. Your truck will look much better without it anyways.

It probably depends on the dealer. I've used the same dealer for years through both work and personal purchases and I've found on details like this they will go the extra mile and make things right. I don't know if that is a result of multiple vehicle purchases but it is refreshing to not get the run around when there is something that needs to be addressed.

Everyone in my family owns a Toyota from there. Myself, dad, sister, mom. And multiples. So I might play that card

I don't see how someone could say you hit something, at that height whatever you "hit" would've hit the grille and headlight too.

Quite a valid point. The thing would always flutter at high speed but I didn't think it would ever just fly off

Knowing some dealerships they could say you hit one of these image.jpg

I though I did with the way it flew off haha. Looks horrid tho. I'll buy a new one if they won't replace
