Took my mom for an oncologist follow-up this morning - confirmed lung cancer. Her health already puts her in a risky category for even a biopsy and chemo/radiation would probably cause more damage than it would cure. She opted for no treatment - anywhere from 6 months to 3 years prognosis. Lost my Dad back in '97. I knew this was coming but still......

My deepest sympathy. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and doc said it was terminal with or without treatment. She opted for no treatment and was given 9 months....lasted 2 months and 8 days. I miss her but take comfort knowing I will see her again.

Sorry to hear it Mark. They diagnosed my grandmother with stomach cancer at 95, she went to 103. Cancer grows slow when the body's metabolism moves at the speed of someone that age.

We've been dealing with a series of health issues with both of my parents. Dad's back in the hospital right now in fact. Easter was in the hospital, now it looks like Father's Day will be there too.

I had a very happy Father's Day, I got to drive my father back home from the hospital! We did the same thing on Easter. I told him I wanted to spend July 4th someplace besides driving back from a hospital; he laughed and said " :amen: to that!"

Oh yeah, hope all you dads had a great fathers day.

Spent mine changing the oil in my truck & the wife's bmw. Rather enjoyed it though, no one to bother me. Went kinda like this: Remove drain plug. Drink beer. Remove oil filter. Drink beer. Replace filter. Drink beer. Replace drain plug, drink beer. Refill with oil, drink beer. Wash up & pass out.

Welcome 007 TRD. Mark, sorry to hear about the cancer in the family member.
Mike, I had my 5,000 mile checkup for the truck today. I looked at the list the dealer had, only saw a couple items checked, I'm guessing a later freebie check includes the items you mentioned. Can't see that being done in 18 minutes and all done thoroughly. I only asked they check the drive line U-joints to be sure they were greased, there has been complaints on the forum I've read, they were fine. In and out in about 30 minutes. I'll just remove the oil filter canister next time then and also won't have to get a washer for under the plug there. It all makes a mess anyway. Good point about the sabotage, I've put a hose clamp over my tail gate pin, need to remember to lock the tail gate too.
Susan, the oil plug is easily accessible, its the filter that is under the skid plate and takes time to remove.
Had a Coleman campout in the middle of Nevada Friday, Saturday and Sunday AM. Only two of us showed up, was only expecting a couple other guys. I brought a couple Coleman lanterns and some non-Coleman alcohol stoves. We talked, walked around Berlin, visited the Diana Mine and the dinosaur bones at Berlin-Icthysauras State Park in Nevada, outside Gabbs. One stretch of highway between Carson City and Fallon, NV, the truck hit 27 mpg, doing 60. That didn't last long after hitting 70 mph.

We get paid for 18 min. Never said we can do it. That's why everything is rushed. That's why things happen. Was just bustin ya...

I understood the first go round, no explanation needed. :)
Roots in my septic system, called to get the 1,000 gal tank pumped, then get the rooter guy out to clear around the inlet. My little Kubota tractor made it easy lifting the lids off the tank. I developed the acre back in '81.
