    Hello All,

I sold my 2005 and was thinking about purchasing a 2016, but with all the concerns people have I changed my mind and am looking to buy a 2013, dbcb, 2wd, Ted sport with 17k.

Any issues with this model year that I need to look out for?

I have a 13. Nothing to look out for that i know of. The backup camera is displayed in the rear view mirror... And they have the 5 button steering wheel rather than the 9 button wheel.

Like the other guy said. Nothing to really look out for.

Only maintenance that needed to be done with a 13' truck under 30K would be oil and filter ( cabin filter too).

The rearview mirror also has the temp and compass which is nice, think they discontinued that going forward.

If it is from a dealer listen for the wind noise around the door at 45+ mph. If it is there use it as a way to lower the price some or ask to have it fixed. Might help.

    Wind noise at the door?

I know that with my 05, at freeway speeds I sometimes got a howling noise from the windshield. Is it similar to that?

I have a 2013 Dble Cab TRD Sport, love mine. The guys above are on point with all their comments. Mine had 25k miles , so with 17k you shouldn't have any worries. Good luck on your decision.

Here is some encouragement, it was just lifted yesterday.

The only negative issue I have had with my 2013 was the door seal wind noise at freeway speeds when driving in windy conditions, especially with a crosswind. There is an easy fix for that issue though. Good luck with the buy!

Southern Cal is AMAZING I'm blessed to have been born & raised there, its just gotten so crowded (traffic- the 405) and more importantly Expensive!

Thanks for the props brother and good luck with the truck, I like the low miles.

    • Turn the music up and listen for door rattles and window switches rattle
    • Climate control bezel was loose on mine, I could push it inwards.
    • Driver seat back might move on you, if so in my experience I had my driver seat replaced by Toyota at around 35k miles.

57k miles on my '13, no issues. Add u-joint lube to the regular maintenance interval and you'll be good to go.

Never having an 05 I wouldn't know. Take it for a test drive with the windows closed, get up to about 55 and then ask the dealer which window is open. He will definitely try to close all of them with no luck.

I had to recharge AC on mine. Make sure AC blows cold at idle. Use a IR thermometer if you have one. After recharge my center vents were at 40 degrees idling at 95 degrees outside temp.

I have the same problem with my drivers side seat. I think I'm going to take it to Toyota to look at. Actually it feels like the whole seat is a POS.

I love my 13 DCSB. Rear leaf springs are about the only other thing. If you are going to lift it just hold out and put on a new spring pack rather than an AAL.
