    My Taco is a 2001 3.4 V6 with automatic transmission, 4x4.
Noticed it always shifts at 4800-4900 rpm at WOT. ECT on or off.
The only way to get it to shift at 5500 red line is to manually hold the gear selector.

I used to drive a 5 speed 4runner, so this is new and strange to me, please help me~~

so you want to blow up your engine and/or tranny by requiring it to reach redline before shifting?

you do realize redline is the limit point where things start to wear excessively, get damaged, or fail don't you

For protection of both the trans and the engine the trucks ECU is set to shift there. If you really just have to see it climb try and go WOT on a decent uphill... will put more load on the engine and encourage it to hold gear. These trucks aren't designed to hang out around redline.

My 3.4 starts to scream at me right around 3k, I never go past 4k even with my supercharger on. Just sounds and feels like asking for trouble.

Rev limiter is set at 5700 rpm for both the 2.7 and 3.4 , also sitting on the rev limiter doesn't hurt a motor

Its might not have nearly the effect that it does on the trans, but hanging out at redline is not known to promote longevity of an engine either.

I am not sure how everyone's V6 is, but around 3100rpm the engine tone changes and does not sound too terribly happy... it still pulls strong just don't think the 3.4 was designed for any high RPM work.

I'm with you, as long as you keep up with the maintenance, it doesn't hurt it...of course its not like keeping it at 5500 rpm ALL THE TIME....

that's when the torque curve starts really kicking in, you can actually feel it pull more above 3k

Random question for you...after adding the 7th injector, did you notice that you get boost faster when accelerating in first? I have a stock supercharger setup and I always have to shift into 2nd before I get any real boost, kind of sucks because I don't get to jump off the line as fast as I think I'm capable of doing. Wondering if the 7th injector might help

I've recently gone past 4K rpm and it was amazing. (I've owned the 3.4 for a little over a year and never done it before:rofl:)
