What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

@TheBearJoo, I was confused about the differences between the ICON stages so I made a little summary chart. Hope this helps.

 

Got the lift done. Wasn't what I wanted but I think it will work until I can afford an Icon setup or OME BP-51.

Did a 3-1 lift from @lowrange (front only). Replaced the rear block with the Icon progressive AAL. 285/70/17 Trail Grapplers on Fuel Beast 17x9 +1 offset.

 

Question... Dealership was not able to get the caster in spec but said not to worry about it as it doesn't affect tire wear. Should I be concerned and will aftermarket UCL help with this?

 

Your not off by much. It won't effect tire wear, but it will effect other things. UCA would definitely solve that problem.

 

I've read, and read, and read....so I'm finally going to ask some questions. I'm going to piece together my lift, so I can pay for it as I go. My goal is to retain factory UCA's and not run spacers, and I only want to run 265/75 16's on my stock OR rims and achieve a better ride. I probably offroad 10 miles out of every 1000 miles I drive and this is my DD. Looking a 2" max lift.

So far, I've only picked up Bilstein 5100 fronts off jet.com because they are so cheap and in the heat of the moment when they were in stock last night, I bought them. I want to leave these a 0. I'm not sure what to run for springs, OME 885 or 887's? Also, for the rear, is is worth getting king shocks or something, or should I stick with Bilstein? For ride quality, do AAL or just replace the leafs altogether?

I don't plan to run any armor other than my RCI front skid. I do have MobTown sliders that are sprayed w/Line-x that are heavy and did lower the truck a tad.

Not really worried too much about budget, but I'm not wanting to go all out either, which is why I started w/Bilsteins.

Called my local dealership yesterday about booking an alignment after I install my 2"~ Ironman lift next weekend. They told me that because they only have alignment values for a stock setup they would rather not do the alignment and that I should go to a tire/alignment specialty shop. The service person did actually recommend a place he knew would do it (which is cool). They also said that if they did it I may need to return a couple times to get the settings correct and I would have to pay the full alignment charge each time I came back.

I guess my question is should the dealership be able to do a proper alignment on a 2" lift with their "alignment values" and systems?

Just to ease/reduce any future "oh you have a lift so no warranty" issues I think having Toyota do the alignment might help in certain circumstances. Maybe not. Should I worry or just shut up, get the alignment done elsewhere and enjoy the truck/lift?

 

They can do it but they might be choosing not to take on the liability. But if they are going that route they might as well NOT install lifts either.

Ironman has released a lift for the 3rd gen? I will be curious to hear how you like it. Their dampening system is a different one for sure. I wonder how it will ride.

So my 5100' (front only), OME 888' & Deaver 1.5"-2" AAL will be here Tuesday. Ill probably install it after work that day or on Wednesday. Ill keep you posted on my thoughts. I didn't do rear shocks as I read with a 1.5"-2" AAL I could run the stock shocks. However if I don't like the ride, Ill just get the rear 5100' from jet. I'm also running a 265/75-16 (Cooper Discoverer AT-3) on the stock alloys. I love the tires and with the stock suspension I've had no rub issues at all and have tried to get them to rub as you can see in my avatar picture.

It's the same lift as the 2nd gen. Might be the first one in Canada to put it into a 3rd Gen. The shop that sold me the lift http://www.cruisinoffroad.com/Index.html#top was in contact with the US distributor who has already put the lift into at least 1 if not more 2016s. They had goods results and are saying it should net 2" up front and slightly less in the rear. Once I get around to the install I will post up my results.

Just ordered a set of 17" Ray10's and am getting BFG KO2's 285/70/17's. I am probably ordering from headstrong, 4-5100's, Toytec coils assembled and Deaver leaf AAL's. My plan is to bring my 2wd OR TRD up a bit a level out for the tires.

Question, I no zip what a UCA is for but here it a lot here. Would it be any benefit and worth the extra $ to buy UCA's and if so what ones for the money, I know headstrong sells the LR Luca's but again have no clue.

Also what are they for and the benefits!

I still have to find some one here to do the lift and mounting wheels and tires, 4wheelparts in SA told me they wont do it unless I buy the parts from them but I don't want too! Any one from San Antonio who knows a top notch installer, please let me know!

I just installed Icon Stage 4 and mounted Cooper Discoverer AT3s 285/70/17 on FX Pro Wheels by @JdMeF9SiR2. No rubbing on hard cornering at moderate speed, however, it looks like it may rub at full compression. Icon tubular UCAs going on next week, another alignment, then off for a wheeling run to see how it does.

 

2.25 readylift level, fox rear shocks, 265/70r18 Nitto G2 Grapplers, 18x9 Fuel Vapors.

 

Hi team. Having a hard time deciding on a lift and wanted to reach out. First of all, I've got a 2016 TRDORDCLB and love it. I recently put the Konig Countersteer Type X wheels with 265/70/17 KO2 tires. Love the way it looks, but it has to come up a little. And I have had proper suspension lifts on my old Tacos (OME suspension kits to be precise) and am wanting just a small lift this time, but want to do it right. No body lift. Honestly, like 1-1.5" would be perfect. I called Wheelers and they suggested the Icon Stage 2. Looks like a killer setup and is in my budget, but from what I have seen here, it might be a bit more of a lift than I want. Especially with the 265/70/17 that I'm running. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions? I've included a few pics of the truck as it is now for reference. Thanks so much!

 

I would say 5100's up front and then a simple 1-1.5" aal in rear like from headstrong. I'm debating this as well..

 

Hoping someone with more experience can help me. I lifted and aligned my truck a few weeks ago. My alignment shop told me I could come back for free in a few weeks once everything settles. Today I remeasured everything and adjusted the truck to perfect level. My front is up about 2.5" - 2.75" over stock now. Hereso my question.
I know we're not supposed to exceed 2 inches with out a DB lift.
Icons website states the extended travel coilovers can safely lift up to 2.75 inches.
I am running the toy tec diff drop and my down travel is good.

What do you think of these CVS? All I really know is the fins aren't supposed to touch.. thanks.
