I just have to rant for a second... My office had something shipped to it via USPS before Christmas. We recently moved into a new suite, and had just gotten the keys for the delivery box at the office park. We made sure that the post office knew that we were there, hell, we had to get the keys from them and pay them to re-key the box. Then comes the snafu. The tracking information said for about a week that electronic shipping info had been received, but there was no update. Then after about a few days it went from "info received" to " it said that it had been returned as undeliverable. I went to our sorting facility, and the manager said that it had been returned to sender. Now it says this:

Your item was processed through and left our BIRMINGHAM, AL 35222 facility on December 29, 2009. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

    Detailed Results:

Processed through Sort Facility, December 29, 2009, 10:16 pm, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35222
Moved, Left no Address, December 29, 2009, 5:39 am, BIRMINGHAM, AL
Processed through Sort Facility, December 23, 2009, 11:56 pm, DENVER, CO 80217
Processed through Sort Facility, December 23, 2009, 12:59 am, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35222
Processed through Sort Facility, December 22, 2009, 11:42 pm, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35222
Undeliverable as Addressed, December 21, 2009, 3:19 pm, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35209
Out for Delivery or Available at PO Box, December 21, 2009, 10:19 am, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35209
Sorting Complete, December 21, 2009, 9:49 am, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35209
Arrival at Post Office, December 21, 2009, 4:24 am, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35209
Electronic Shipping Info Received, December 18, 2009

I called the sorting facility at 35222 where it is supposed to be currently, and they said that just because the tracking info says that it may not be there. It said tracking info received for the 4 days or so up until my postman decided not to deliver it to our office... ugh. Anyway, rant over, I have no clue if I'll ever see the package. I've told the shipper that if they ever get it back I will pay whatever it costs to just fed-ex it. It's no wonder the USPS loses money hand over fist. With service like this, I can't imagine ever using them again.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I know. I never said I was surprised about any of this, just pissed. ;) I wish they had shipped FedEx or UPS the first time. We always use FedEx at work, and have been nothing but 100% satisfied with them.

Easy there champ- There are plenty of gov't organizations that work just fine.

At least they are still tracking it- so that can still get it to you.

This says it all. The Government has never been able to run a profitable venture of substantial size. At least make that the dame thing break even for Christ's sake!
