This is our mid height rack. I'm pretty much just using it to haul bikes.

How is that mounted? It does not appear to use the bed rails. I'm interested as I have a bakflip G2 and am looking into rack solutions

    Thanks

    Steve

Edit: I zoomed in more. I think i see the bracket down to the rail now.

Are there any advantages to using a bed rack for your bikes versus the tailgate?

Only that it gets them up and out of the way, and it looks really cool.

Could you take some close up pics of how it fastens to the truck? Looking to understand how easy it is to remove when not in use. Thanks

Four knobs hold it in place.

Pop those off, and it lifts right out.

I'm guessing since the G2 relocates the bed rails, that this would mean the rack mounts wouldn't line up.

Where do the rails move to?

They're dropped down. The G2 drain rails go where the factory ones mount and there's brackets to remount the Toyota rails underneath.

I'm not sure if that would work with the mounting bracket that I supply. It would definitely work with a longer, custom bracket.

Would love to see a bike mount that works in conjunction with the factory Toyota bed cover and doesn't impede its function. Something similar to what you had previously advertised on your site for 2015 and older Tacoma's, where the bike mount sat out to the side and away from the bed itself.. Great design, and full functionality of the bed cover.

While waiting on my cross-bars from VooDoo, this is what I came up with in the meantime using some old Yakima cross-bars from my last Tacoma. Surprisingly, they fit exactly (and snuggly) between the bed rails where the factory tonneau cover latch cut outs are. I have them zip tied to the cleats to ensure they don't go anywhere since the install is temporary. I'm not sure the length of the bars, but think they might be 54"...

    Bikes look great up top.

Think they'd fit below the rack, maybe even with the front wheel on with a recrac or similar? - Allowing bikes AND a roof-top-tent to be taken at the same time.

    Possibly.

The bikes can also be carried on our optional bike mounts that bolt to the side of the rack.
