so you dropped it into the transmission? my dad has used seafoam for years and told me to put it in my trans. did you do it and then change the fluid later or are you running it with the tranny fluid?

I put it in the oil, vacuum line, and gas. I guess you can put it in the transmission, but I did not.

Hmm after checking, I see the seafoam guys make a product specifically for transmissions. I think I'll have to try that.

the seafoam for transmissions works pretty good as well...but just like with the kind for the oil......prolly a good idea to change transmission fluid not too long afterwards, as it cleans the valve body and such.

Is Seafoam something other than Kerosene repackaged?

This guy is moonshinin' seafoam: http://hildstrom.com/projects/seafoam/index.html

    Dear Guinea Pig:

Try this (at your own risk), and post pics of the result...and don't blow yourself up while brewing.

    Insincerely (i.e., I wouldn't try this),

Just did mine tonight. It puffed out a huge cloud at first before I even had a chance to shut it off and wait 15 min. Once I started it back up, it smoked for a few more minutes. The truck seems to accelerate smoother now. I've only had it a few days but I can tell a little difference. I put the rest of the can in the gas tank.

I run this stuff through the gas every 10K miles or once a year. I 've grown up around Engine builders and race shops and I've seen way too many broken motor due to oil additives etc to pour this stuff into any of my motors. I will say that I notice a fairly decent increase in performance and mileage after running this stuff in the tank.

Have any of you had a chance to look into your motors before and after running this stuff? When I got my 80 cutlass it had been sitting for many many years and only had 29K on the clock. Best we could tell the car had been sitting since the mid 80s until I bought it in 2007. We could get it started but it would choke and die if you didn't keep you foot on the throttle. We used a buddies scope and looked inside. Everything was gunked up and nasty (wonderful 80's gas). I pulled the carb and soaked it in seafoam for an hour then dumped a full can in about 5 gallons of gas and ran the motor in the driveway at 3K for about and hour. During this time it was blowing out all kinds of smoke that started black then eventually went to gray/white before going away. After letting it cool down we looked at the valves again and there was less gunk and carbon on them. The tops of the pistons looked better as well. We ran two more cans thru the car over the next couple of weeks mixed with shell 93. Afterward we had another look at everything. The insdie of the motor was almost spotless. the tops of the pistons had nothing on them and the valves looked almost new. The ring of carbon around the tops of each clinder was just about gone. The car drove like new. Yes it was still a junk 260 V8 but.... II drove the car the rest of the summer and fall before ripping the motor out for my motor swap.

Long and short is the stuff does work but I wouldn't suck it into the engine or pour it into MY motors.

I seafoamed Sunday and I have to say that it runs a little smoother, accels a little quicker than before... I used 1/3 can into the intake and the rest into the tank. I'm sold!
