I'm getting ready for the TW meet up at Rausch Creek Off Road Park in PA end of July.

With the clunks and bangs Just going over speed bumps at the grocery store, I know I won't be happy on the trails.

Getting rid of the bags out back and adding the Superbumps will fix the rear. I actually think the Daystar cradles were the culprit there. Allowing the bag to lift out of the cradle and slam back down. It's like hitting solid bumps stops every time.

Now the front. Those Nitrochargers, as we all already know, top out. Guess I'll be reading through this thread again to see what other guys are running.

I'm wondering if 5100's will do the trick?

Top out? As in like you run out of down travel? Seems pretty normal... Considering 3 wheeling when offroading is common in an IFS truck unless you have some crazy flex in the rear and LT up front

If you mean bottom out as in the bump stop doesn't hit before the rod meets the top of the shock you need bigger bump stops... The wheelers super bumps for the front are a good fix for that too

Yes, I meant run out of down travel. Yes I'm sure that at some point any shock will run out of down travel. But, slowly driving over speed bumps at the grocery store?

Or, maybe there's just no avoiding it?

Hoping the experts here can help me. My 2001 PreRunner 2WD is at 140,000 and the suspension is shot, so it's time for replacement. I'd like to upgrade with Bilstein 5100's and some OME coil over springs, but have no idea which ones I should get.

I don't go off-road, but do get on some fairly nasty washboard dirt roads from time to time. Mostly paved roads though.

    Suggestions, recommendations and/or comments please.

Yikes! What rate spring and how much weight do you have up front?

886's, plate bumper and winch. 200lbs-ish

    Oh, full skids as well.

Interesting... I can't believe you get that much rebound after hitting a speed bump... Ive heard the infamous clunk once a few years ago on another guys truck... Was a scary sound lol.

I think you have a good set up... But maybe limit straps are in order unfortunately...

Itd probably help save balljoints and spindles though

Yeah, maybe it's just the 886's being stiff? I think I'll just address the rear and see how it goes on the trails.

You want the 2885. I went 2887 to get the true 3" of lift. The 2885 will be closer to the 2" you're looking for after settling. A block in the back would make it more stiff- I'd get an add a leaf at the least.

The 885's without the top plate spacer will give you 2-2.5"

The ride will be more firm than stock. For me the stock truck drove like shit with the spongy car like suspension. If your tires are making it ride like hell then you probably have E rated (10 ply) tires.

I used 5100's with 885 and I would say the ride is firm, not stiff. Feels more planted and not mushy like stock. What load rand tire did you get and what psi are you running in them?

so guys, sorry if this was mentioned but I remember seeing that lots of people think 288# coils are older style springs and the x88# are new. well I went to ARB in auburn WA the HQ cause I have 886 coils and need to swap out to 885 and I asked them about it well 288# and x88# is same doesn't matter its all the same. so whether you order as 288# or x88# its the same. also yeah I had 886 on my truck cv's were all retard. switched out to 885 and now cvs are good. also it was 3 1/2 from center hub to fender now its 2 3/4 from center hub to fender and rear with my over load 2 1/2inches. so just FYI also, all coils according to ARB is 36 month warrenty, so yeah. if you don't like them they will send you a new one to your liking.

Just installed the 885s and 5100s set to the highest ring (2.25") and the rear bilsteins. At the alignment shop now. Everthing looks to be about level.
