lighting up steering wheel controls with new HU

    so when i replaced my stock jbl headunit with an alpine, i lost all the lighting in my steering wheel, dont care about controls.

    has anyone dealt with this issue?

    yea they use to be the same color as the dash magma. but then i got a new headunit and it lost power im guessing.

    no idea i was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

    Ya when you go to an aftermarket HU, if you did the install yourself, you will notice that there was an extra plug, which controls your steering wheel controls, at least thats the conclusion we came up with.

    I did verify this morning they do light up...I still wonder how did I never notice this. Either way they are the same color as the dash lights...

    Maybe this is JBL systems only? I don't have the JBL.

    You can buy a kit to enable the steering wheel controls after you upgrade the HU. We looked a bestbuy yesterday, they wanted $99.99 just for the kit and another $50 to install it while they were already going to be installing my HU. If I do need it, I'll get it at a later date and do the install myself.
