Please help - I just got a 2016 Tacoma a couple days ago, and I like everything about it except one huge problem. When my phone is paired to the truck via Bluetooth, my voice-to-text feature is not working on my phone. For example, in my previous GMC Canyon and F-150, if I was driving and received a text message, I would be able to click on the microphone button on my phone and speak a response and it would type right out in my phone so I could hit send. I know this is considered texting while driving, but at least I am not typing on a keyboard.

Now with the new truck, when I click the microphone button on the phone, it pops up on the screen like it is listening, but does not respond to my voice at all. If I turn off Bluetooth, then it works. I have a Motorola Droid Turbo running Android 5.1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The entune unit does not support voice to text.

It does not need to work through the truck at all. I just want the phone to hear me and display the text on it's screen.

I see. Sounds like a phone problem then, since you're using the phone to do the voice dictation, and not the head unit.

None yet, starting over!! OME lift w/ Dakars & 885's Remote Start w/ window control
Try talking into the phone's mic... I know this might seem weird, but my Note 4 doesn't work through my Alpine BT unit for speech-to-text conversion

UPDATE I noticed when trying to do a voice text that there was a settings button next to the microphone. When I clicked on it one of the options was to turn off the Bluetooth headset button. Now it works!

I’m having the same problem on my Toyota - and it USED to work but I reset my iPhone and now it isn’t! The voice-to-text works in my other car, but not the Toyota (so I know it’s not the phone). My audio BT works when I’m on a call, just not VTT!! Help!

You can use "Hey Siri" or you can hold the "phone off the switch" button on the steering wheel to activate siri. Using one of those options is the best way to voice text with an iPhone and Tacoma.
