What I am finding with this truck is that it's designed to be driven like a grandpa if you hope to get decent mpg numbers.

If you drive it like a normal person you will avg the low end of the respective mpg range for your model (maybe less).

    I do 18,5 - 19 MPG with mine.

TRD Sport V6 DCLB with 3" front lift and 2" rear. Tonneau cover and front air dam removed.

It could be better because I don't baby it that much.

I got about 14 MPG on my first tank mixed city/highway driving (50 mile roundtrip daily commute) and the next few tanks after that MPG improved, now I get an average of 18-20 MPG consistently with city/highway driving. On a long trip with HWY miles only, I've gotten right at 23 MPG.

op, that's good fuel econ... but, after 2 weeks owning mine, i'm keeping my sanity by driving as i like to and spending an extra $10 a tank as a fun tax. i was driving this thing like a 92 crown vic carrying eggs and it killed the fun factor. i'm now getting about 550 l/100kms on 80 litres as opposed to the 600 - 620 est driving on ether and i'm ok with it... with regular gas to boot.

This is my average going to work. First tank or two it stayed in the 18-19 range and then all of a sudden, this became the norm. Power seems better now too. I'm just shy of 2000 miles and my power and mpg are both getting better every day.

In the first 3000 miles I was getting around 18 mpg. Now, at 8200 miles, I'm getting 21+. On a trip to Florida from Ohio and back I was getting 18 through the mountains and 23 in the flat areas of Georgia and Florida (that was at 75 mph with AC). No trouble in the mountains or anywhere else. The motor does love the 4000 rpm mark in the mountains but at speeds of 75 it usually pulls @1800 RPM.

You really need to get an elevation plot to know your true mpg. To and from a destination under similar driving conditions will be a closer approximation.

I agree, mine has loosened up and gained power after 1200km, I'm not driving for fuel milage as I've had it up to 5500rpm at least 30 times already, just amazed how much more efficient it is then my 05 Tundra at the same curb weight.

I don't have all the elevations but here was a recent trip of about 2100 miles through the mountains and flat land. You can see the MPG change down and back.

    Down

    From-To Miles MPG

    OH-WV 170.8 22.15

    WV-VA 124.1 18.19

    VA-NC 156 19.96

    NC-SC 193.5 20.79

    SC-GA 130.1 23.42

    FL 325.5 21.75

    21.04 Average MPG

    Back

    From-To Miles MPG

    FL-GA 141.4 22.90

    GA-SC 112.8 21.27

    SC-NC 195.7 20.40

    VA-WV 164 19.20

    WV-OH 297.5 18.29

    20.95 Average MPG

20.99 Average for the round trip

Are all these numbers you guys are tossing out actual calculations, or are you just trusting the dash read out?

Curious, for those energetic enough to track by hand, how accurate do you find the dash display to be, on average (don't care about instantaneous). If you have owned a Scanguage before, do you find it close to that level of accuracy?

Problem with the dash read out is it's based on what the truck thinks it has in the tank for fuel volume. I've never seen a perfect fuel gauge in a vehicle, and I've never seen anyone who can 'fill' a vehicle exactly the same everytime.

My numbers are actual calculations from the gallons of gas at each stop and the miles traveled between each fill. My numbers are NOT from the dash computer.
