I just used blue on everything and torqued everything proper.

I think that they will with the right valving... and im going to test that theory soon.

Valving doesn't raise the weight carrying capacity of a linear rate coil... It'll slow down weight transfer and be more controlled dynamically but not going to have any effect on the static load and the amount of preload required to get the required lift.

I understand that mang. Most people jump to 700 right off when bottoming occurs. My theory is backed by a local that has the full plate, winch and skid combo on Icons. As most know Icons come with 650s. He did a valving change and the problem was solved.

Im just trying to avoid jumping to a 700# coil, cause I dont think ill need it. Shit, like I said in my thread. Ill relocate the battery before I jump to 700s

That's pretty cool, I'm looking forward to your results.

I had to run 700s on both sets of Icons that I have owned because of the amount of preload required was ridiculous with the 650s. The ride improved significantly after the jump to 700s and dialing out nearly all the preload.

Nothing wrong with preloading a spring either unless you run into coil bind or you limit travel in either direction too much (for a street truck) which inherently is going to happen some when lifting a truck

Icon specifically states a maximum amount of preload that isn't to be exceeded.

Im preloaded just above what King said on the driver side and im just fine. CV angle is good and ride quality is fine. No coil bind or issues that Ive seen thus far.

These were valved heavier when NoFords had them on 700s. I swapped to 600 when I bought them cause I was undecided on what I was doing and didnt want to run 700s with a stock truck. All I have to do is swap coils.

Which is most likely just for avoiding coil bind. Preload doesn't hurt the shock in itself so long as the coil doesn't bind or the shock isnt hitting travel limits.

I think it's definitely for coil bind. Only thing it hurts is the quality of the ride.

Had to get my emissions tested and decided to stop by the marina on the way home since I knew it was a low tide, didn't know it was this low..
