I'm hoping you add to this thread after a little time with the replacement. I'm certainly interested in seeing if you come across the same issues.

I was set on getting a 3rd gen when the 2017s roll out. But hate the thought of going from a truck without issues to one that could potentially be a headache to deal with.

Based on the unscientific poll results and probably the national average, there are more than a handful of good trucks being delivered.

For others on the fence, going from a perfectly good vehicle to buying a new one with problems, that's a gamble anyone takes regardless of manufacturer. Decide what you really need that new truck for, why you need it, shop around and drive a bunch of different configurations because these trucks do drive differently than any of the previous gens. Some people don't like how they drive, many others are very satisfied based on the poll results.

It just depends on your needs.

I've had my truck for 3 months now, 6k miles, no issues to report other than the occassional whistle from the control arms that the six TSB plugs will fix. Performance wise I've been more than pleased and no regrets from selling my fully functional 1st gen.

...^^^... This is maybe my 10th or more Toyota truck and had all models back to late 1970's. Also had some 1st year models and keep saying no more first year models.

With all that said and respectful of other's problems .....

This is the most trouble free new Toyota truck that I have ever owned.
A few small burps that can be fixed.

My Honda Ridgeline was best QC in "truck like vehicle", but it was not 1st year production either.

Tacoma is a great truck and needs to watch QC better.... and TSBs I think can fix most problems. My experiences with other brands have been much worse.

I'm planning on just 1 more new truck within the next 3 years. A BBP or a Red, TRD Sport, Access Cab, 2WD, with the V6. I'm 54 now so that one should last till I die.

My 4 cylinder Tacoma has no issues.

I've read several threads in Coloradofans.com and Caynonfans.com...they also have lots of bitching articles too. Hood vibrations, water leaks, vibrations/rattles/noises, engine & tranny grips, etc......

I once had a 2015 Colorado with the leaking door seals. Been there done that.

Happy as hell now that I am completed with Mods.

As for all of the superficial bitching that everyone has, we have trucks, if you wanted a truck that drove like a sedan or better MPG, should have picked something different.

As for the low trans fluid, whistling with the air flow, hoods issue, that shit should never have hit the retailers floor in these numbers we have seen.

Good poll and so far about 90% are in top 2 groups ... don't think many brands will get in the 90% group.

I bought one of those new 4x4 98' rangers over tacoma...because it was CHEAP ! you get what you pay for. That ranger was the roughest & loudest thing driving down the road, arrrrrrg. glad to get rid of it.

I'm happy with my black Tacoma now that I have discovered Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax and Chinchilla Microfiber Buffing Cloths! Now if the birds would move on and quit dumping there load on my truck I'll really be all happy, sappy!

I do enjoy driving this truck very much ... still get a buzz and look forward to having a reason to drive it ... :)

The only thing that would make my driving experience better is to be able to get a Tacoma with a Regular Cab/Short Bed with a 5.7 ... :burnrubber:

Raptor 4" oval rails, OEM door sill protectors, totally debadged, OEM mud guards, OEM bed mat, OEM S/S tail pipe extension, BDT tailgate letters, Weather Tech sun screen.
I have you beat by a year and also plan on a few more Tacomas (or maybe another Tundra thrown in). So far I have been very pleased with my 16' SR5 V6 (bought 12/23 and now has 6500 miles on the clock). It spent one night at a dealership getting a new rear door window seal and the transmission fluid "topped up" w/ECU reset. Other than that NO issues--runs great--gets respectable MPG (17+ city, 22-24 hwy). I have added "easy installed goodies" such as Weather Tech floor liners and windshield screen, door sill protectors, mud guards, Raptor 4" oval step rails, aluminum oil filter cap, Toyota S/S tailpipe cover, tailgate letters, and Rich Trop's Tacoma w/mtn. decal. I completely debadged the truck and took off the stupid pin strip and all dealer emblems the minute I got it home. It gets "babied" beyond what is considered "sane" as it washed immediately after any significant trip, is rarely out in heavy rains, and is garaged at night. That irritates the sh!t out of my son who has a Z71 that looks like it has been around the world. His comment, "dad, it's just a f****** truck! I just bought some property high on a mountain in Dillsboro, NC so I may have to trade it in on a 4X4. However, I do feel for all those that seem to have major issues with their new trucks and they seem varied and legit. I spoke to a Toyota tech the other day and he said some of the Tacomas that have came in recently have had issues...transmission fluid, A/C compressor failure, and defective switches among others.
