Looks awesome! I'm in San Antonio as well and looking at Leer. Where did you get it and what was the cost? Which model is that? Thanks for any info.

ARE V-Series with Outdoorsman sliding windoors, carpeted headliner, tilt front slider and roof rack tracks installed. was $2,007.00 with tax and installation. Had an abysmal experience with ARE before when I had a Z-Series, and vowed never again to go with ARE, but after spec'ing and pricing LEER shells with the things I wanted, most importantly windoors this time, LEER was way too expensive. Their sliding windoors were literally double what ARE charges per window. Needed a sliding side window for my dog (didn't think the Z-Series fish gill style widows let in enough air), and need the windoors because I have a hitch mount bike rack and getting in and out of the back of the truck was a PITA. This shell may not be as slick looking as the Z-Series, but it's way more functional and user friendly. Transmission issues and horrible customer service from Toyota has put a bad taste in my mouth about the brand. Was actually considering ditching the truck and going back to Subaru and that's another reason I sold the Z-Series I had on prior, but decided to just keep the truck for at least 100k miles since I already paid for the 100k warranty. It will take me a few years to put that many miles on the truck, and couldn't stand all the dog hair inside the cab, so I had to get another shell.

Oooh, I do like those windoors, much more than the LEER ones.

Here's my question - Does anyone know of a good way to run with the rear window open? Would like to have my dog ride in the back with a cap, and would love to be able to get airflow through the back.

Um, that's what the sliding windows on the sides are for and the slider on the front window on the shell are for.

3 led strips, and dome light, sliding removable rear. Everything else is spot on. I paid $3,100 for it. They have a ARE dealer next door and I wasn't impressed with the hardware or much of anything else. I went and checked out SugTop and they make an awesome topper except the windoors were too small for the short bed and the overhang was too much.

It doesn't hit the paint it sits just off from the lip of the tailgate. And I dont think you can mount it any more forward or would want too, its designed to have over hang to keep water out...

How easy are shells to remove solo? I want to get one but I need to take it off to haul my motorcycle every so often and sometimes don't have someone around.

If you have a secure place to store it without actually putting it all the way on the ground it's not that bad. I haven't done it yet on this truck, but I used to take my canopy on and off solo pretty regularly on my last truck. I built a set of tall purpose built sawhorses that were just over bed height and two crossbars that would hold the canopy off the truck. Set up sawhorses next to truck, unbolt canopy and slide back a few inches, pick up back of canopy and slide in both crossbars, pick up front of canopy, slide foremost crossbar forward, canopy now supported on sawhorses only, drive away in truck. Reverse the process to remount.

34 pages and not one aluminum cap? I'm going to get an aluminum one because I will only be using it occasionally and I need to remove/install it easily. Black on my MGM taco shouldn't look too bad. Pics when I get it.

Just about all the companies that make fiberglass caps also offer aluminum caps. My local dealer sells the one made by ARE but I'm buying one direct from a manufacturer in PA called Ranger Enterprises (http://rangertruckcaps.com/deluxe.html). They're built to order and I like their radius side window better than the rectangle window that ARE uses.
