    Hi Guys,

I have a 2016 manual sport access cab I waited two months for. Since I hit 1200 miles I have an intermittent engine stalling stuttering problem on the highway. Only happens when the outside temp is over 85 degrees and after I've driven at least 20 miles. At highway speed in sixth gear the engine pops stutters and tries to repeatedly stall. Truck jumps around violently as the engine is attempting to stall while the transmission is engaged. It will do this for 2-8 miles and then it goes away. I have to pull into the slow lane as I can't keep it over 40MPH.

Had it to the dealer. They said no error codes and they could not find anything wrong. Trust me something is seriously wrong! The service manager actually asked me if this was the first manual shift I ever owned...... I told him no the one I just traded in was my 3rd manual Toyota taco with 140,000 miles on the original clutch.

Problem is getting worse and dealer refuses to believe there is a problem. Vehicle is dangerous to drive when it starts. I'm wondering if there is some sort of engine protect circuit that is malfunctioning and trying to shut the engine down.

Anyone have any idea. Oddly the tach doesn't react much and no engine lights unless it completely stalls.

Does it only do it in 6th? It almost sounds like clutch or tranny slipping.

OP ... I used my Go Pro to record some problems, and a few times my wife used my phone to take pics and video.

Hopefully it is just water in your fuel.

Sounds like maybe it's entering some sort of limp mode (can't go above 40). The shuddering could be a cylinder misfiring or something. Weird that it is not getting a code.

I agree with the above poster. Try to get a video of it

Check engine light should be on... even if it was bad/contaminated fuel. The shuddering trying to stall at speed on highway would very likely change the oxygen output causing sensors to detect that issue and throw codes.

It starts in 6th but will continue in 5 and 4th if I try to accelerate. I usually have to pop in the clutch and coast for awile to keep from doing damage to the clutch disk.

Working on trying to get a video. problem is it does this in the middle of my 50 mile commute home from work when I am alone. So far no one wants to take a 30 mile road trip. :)

I tried fuel dryer as I thought maybe I got bad gas. I even ran out a tank I got at an unfamiliar gas station to make sure the offending fuel was mostly gone before adding the gas additive.

No check engine light unless it actually stalls which has happened. Not a problem when your moving on the highway to restart. Dealer swears they drove it 30 miles and that there were no engine codes.

You wrote it does it for 2-8 miles when it does it. Plenty of time to whip out you phone and take a video.

Little harder than that with the stalling and shaking I can't even get the screen lock off let alone find the camera ap. I'm usually pretty occupied trying to get out of heavy traffic and into the curb lane. best I've been able to get was a shot of the gauges but by then the antics had subsided.

Hmmm Something beaver nation posted caught my eye the chain mentions limp mode. I have wondered if this is some type of protect circuit engaging when the engine gets warm. The gauge indicates normal when it happens.

Do you have any friends that have one or two GoPros you can borrow and mount to record the action?
Tell a friend you will buy them McDonalds if they will come with you to record it! A real friend would do it because you asked for help even if its 200 miles!

Take it to your dealer. Request a technician open a TAS case. Sounds like a failing crank sensor.
