fwiw, i was waiting for updates on the 6g 4runner on possibly getting a 3 pedal option. since i didn't get quality info on it, got sick of waiting, and its incredibly unlikely based on market trends, i decided on the taco before the taco potentially goes all auto. i bet many 3 pedal taco owners would be ok with a 4runner if it came with a stick. BUT, i don't regret the taco one bit. i just would have preferred the bones of a 3 pedal taco with a suv body.

hey just got my mt trd sport last month. i read last week it is normal for clunking noise at low rpm 1st to 2nd but wow it is loud. i am able to be smooth at higher rpm but every time there's pedestrian on a crosswalk in a parking well i say shoot people gonna ear my 40000$+ old ford again....wen to dealer and we try a other MT and it was doing the same thing so it was the end of the line. what is your opinion on this?

I think that's the "axle wrap" people have mentioned. If you leave the clutch in a second longer and release it slower it shouldn't make the clunk.

Usually axle wrap is more of a shifting clunk felt in the vehicle, not an audible clunk.

Yes. Replace your clutch with something upgraded while you're at it. Lightweight flywheel= better acceleration

Meh, as long as you're nice to it, those clutches last a while. Supercharged, they don't last for shit.

bought it used with 90k, I've been good to it but cant speak for the previous owner. Clutch still feels solid may just get the sleeve kit.

I'm just saying, most people get at least 100k out of them, but if you're already opening it up, might as well throw some new stuff in there! Would really suck to get a new throw out bearing installed and then a year later your clutch starts slipping

Is anyone else getting a squeaky noise coming from the clutch pedal itself when it's hot? When I'm using the clutch a lot (backing out of a parking spot) I get this plastic on plastic rubbing sound.

Yup. Someone else brought it up before and he added some grease to the plastic interface on the pedal. I haven't bothered yet, as I only hear it occaisionally.

If you are at a low rpm shift from 1st to 2nd you need to push the clutch in slower than you are to avoid that clunking and then release slowly as well. 1st to 2nd is a pretty slow shift to keep smooth and quiet at lower RPMs.

Try it, foot of gas, sloowwwwwww push down and you won't hear the clunk.

I ordered my TRD off road Manual MGM model in February. I finally got the call that my truck is in the port. I'm so excited!
