Freaking out after Dakar install. (issue resolved)

    Copy/ paste post, but I need more eyes on this.

    Okay, bear with me. I'm having a minor freak out...

    For a number of reasons I won't get into, I had my Dakars installed by my mechanic. He had some difficulties with my airbag brackets and rusty bolts (and his new guy working on my truck :mad:). It cost me more than I expected to pay - so I'm already not psyched.

    The second spring in the pack has a partial wrap around the eye of the top spring...does this go in front or in the rear? I think I know the answer and I hope I'm wrong. Help! I want to be wrong.

    Yep. That's what I told them over the phone during install. :mad: They actually asked me and did it wrong.

    Easy fix. Let them do it or if you don't trust them and have the tools do it yourself. Maybe see if there's some TW members that have done it in your area help.

    I don't think you'll do any damage running them like they are for a short period of time , just get them swapped around asap

    Here is my thoughts... The springs don't care if they are backwards. They'll carry weight fine. The wrap is a safety feature, that can prevent a disaster if the main spring breaks. :D

    Edit: In looking at close up pictures of the Dakar leaf spring, the military wrap is not even a military wrap. It doesn't go the whole distance to protect the eye. so I'm really not sure why they did that. Maybe just a safety feature to help protect the main spring from a debris strike.
