Had an awesome leg day today. One of the black old school bodybuilders was in there who always yells and pumps everyone up and shit, so I was getting pretty intense. He's probably in his 50's but has been lifting forever and he just knows how to get you psyched before a lift. I only went heavy (for me) on deadlifts today. I'll go heavy on squats Friday. I attempted 405 last week and didn't get it, but it went up pretty easily today. Def couldn't have gotten another one though. I was getting tunnel vision and everything. It stinks because pre-cut, my dl max was 435.

    squats: 135x20, 185x10, 225x8, 135x10
deadlifts: 135x20, 225x10, 315x6, 365x1, 405x1 (I filmed 405, but hit play on my headphones and it paused the fucking video....I'll get it right next week)
leg extensions: 3 sets of 8-15
leg curls: 3 sets of 15-25
    calves & abs

I thought that, too. I dated the wife for 6 years before we got married.

yeah well, when you know she's the right one you get er done. I remember when they just started dating... it was love at first sight and acceptance of both right away. ITs are rare thing to find really. Anyhow, yeah she got prego : it wasn't planned but wasn't prevented so they welcomed the concept with open arms.

My best friend got married after only dating his gal for a year...they've been married 5 years now and are expecting a kid...some folks just know, I guess.

My rule of thumb is that if you can't take a shit in front of her/watch her take a shit, it's too early, brah.

You guys seemed to have missed a key part of my workout:

My squat max is around 365-385...sure, I'd like it to be higher, but it's above average and that number is still going up on a cut, so I'll take it. I do 2 leg days per week, so I do a heavy deadlift/light squat day on one and a heavy squat/light deadlift day on the other. I like doing a variation of low and high reps on everything. If ya don't like it...

Well, I knew I was gonna be going wild on deadlifts, so I wasn't trying to do 1000 reps of squats 5 mins before that. I went until it was a good struggle and burn and stopped to save some pump for deadlifts. I usually preach going til failure, but when I know I'm gonna be maxing out on something, I think it's safe to bend the rules. Had I not gone so heavy on deads today, I would've done more on squats. I only max out once a month or so on the big 3....sometimes less than that

Man I haven't done 20 rep sets in forever...thats a major energy drain! Especially on the deadlifts.

I started doing legs again last week after two months off of them due to some tissue injuries. I figured I would start light and ease into it, in order to avoid being too sore. Squats :135x5 for 5 sets....and that was it.

I could barely walk for 4 days. Time to hit it hard now!

I remember reading somewhere a while back that legs grow better at mix of low and higher reps, like anywhere from 6-25 reps, opposed to upper body muscles, which hit hypertrophy anywhere from 6-15. of course, strength comes mainly from the low rep stuff, but size is the most important thing to me, so I mix it up. Whether it's true or not, I dunno, but it's been working for me, so I'm sticking with it

Good to know actually. I think I may start that. My leg strength is always a bit behind due to past knee and ankle injuries. I don't care as much about putting up big numbers like I do with bench and shoulder press, but I do try to avoid the "skipped leg day" look.

Since my first ACL recon its been tough to get a good squat back.
Also, @zacharypaul89, if you do squats first, do regular deads followed by deficit deadlifts and get your ass lower than normal, skinnier stance. It will load your quads more and you can an unreal balance of push and then pull when the hams take over.

You can also front squat this variation. Just depends what and how you deadlift. Are you ham and glute strong or quad strong on your deads

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
I get ideas here ... but as an older geezer ... I go to the gym 5 days a week average ... hit about 10 machines in an 60-70 minutes ... and do light weights at home.

I basically never stop some type of exercise if I remember to do it on the hour.

Exercise in bed too while watching TV too ... i.e. moving fingers, hands, wrists, ankles, etc.

Each top of the hour ... 10 deep breaths and light arm, neck, leg, hand, foot ... basically move or stretch something each hour.

Been doing this for years now and feel the best in my life ... my 2 cents to you pros .... to "keep moving" all the time ... when you get older ... is secret to staying in shape and feeling good too ... :)

Thanks for all that I have learned in this thread ...

I spent a terrible amount of time in Tennessee this last week. Didn't make it up to Nashville though. Took the 840 bypass around it.
