OEM All weather mats, velcro mod

I was sick of having passengers (including myself) screw up the floor mats so I took action.

I bought 15 feet of velcro(2 inch wide) from Amazon and sticked some to the bottom of the mat. I didn't stick anything to the rug. It pretty much sticks to the rug itself. I've had it on for a couple of days and had people and myself get in/out multiple times and the thing doesn't move. I love it.

Tip: when first installing, don't move the mat at all or else the velcro will separate from the mat. I noticed that a day in the steaming sun fused the velcro and mat together. So allow some time for the glue to do its job.

I did one line after the bend and one towards the edge of the door.

Hmmm, may have to try this. The passenger mat almost always bunches forward whenever someone sits there...

Same here. The carpet screw works really well.

 

I have the stock winter rubber mats and haven't found any issues

 

I did the same thing with my WeatherTech mat on the passenger side. Make sure you use the "hook" side of the Velcro on the mat - the carpet works as the "loop" side. Works great!

 

I will try the Velcro hook pieces on back of the mat as suggested.

I installed the industrial low profile Velcro on the part of the mat that overlays the door sill moulding and on the moulding. The husky mat moves around (even with the carpet screw) when my "rough" passengers enter. Also, the mat section that overlays the door opening moulding is curling up. Jury is still out on this fix.

My 09 had the recalled floor mats with hooks on both sides, why they didn't do that on the 16' model, how expensive can be to do the same locking system for the passengers side??

 

Great simple mod. I noticed that OEM carpet mat on the pass side creeps up as well.

 

YES. this really bugs me too. I rarely have anyone in the front, but I can always tell when someone sits in the passenger seat because the mat gets bunched up.
