Like I said, I like to do a mix of higher and lower reps. For instance, on an average leg day, I'll do 2 quad exercises and 2 hamstring exercises. One quad and ham exercise will be in the 5-8 rep range with a lot of weight and the other 2 exercises I do for each muscle will be in the 10-25 rep range. Same thing for upper body, but I stop at about 15 reps.

x2. Love leg day...especially when the gym is packed. About 5% of the "real" lifters in my gym do legs, so it's nice to be in there pushing more weight on leg day than a guy who weighs twice as much as me and can bench 400 lbs. It's sad, but there are probably 3-4 people in my gym that can out-squat and deadlift me...not because I'm some kind of freak-beast, but because no one does legs. I LOVE leg day.

Also, this might sound ghey, but I tanned Saturday b/c I had like 15 mins to kill and I'm pretty sure my quads grew an inch. I'm gonna start tanning for like 10 mins twice a week just so my legs look bigger.

I probably wouldn't make it lol. While I feel my training is more intense than the average lifter's, I don't go all balls to the wall where I'm gonna puke or anything. I lift until failure with strict 1 min or 1.5 min rests, but nothing vomit-inducing.

I'll try that next time. Whenever I do leg day, I start with a compound quad lift and then go to a compound hamstring lift and then I go to machines/dumbbells/etc after that. On my squat compound lift, I'll do any squat variation: high bar, low bar, front, zercher, etc. Same goes for deadlift: I'll do standard, sumo, Romanian, etc.

    Also, how old are you?

HEY MAN FUCK YOU. YOU'RE JUST SOME KIND OF MAN-BOY, MAN. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. JUST SAY FUCK AND KEEP DOING IT MAN! FUCKING MAN-BABY BITCH!

Seriously, that guy reminded me of this dude from Tosh.0:

Being tan adds definition. You've never seen a pasty ass white guy who looks shredded...

Went and played basketball this morning for about an hour and a half (5 games of 5v5 to 15). You find out real quick how "in shape" you are after one sprint down the court :bananadead:

Hopefully I'll still get to the gym this afternoon for shoulders :militarypress:

Really? Never would've guessed basketball would make you so sore. As a 5'11'' white dude, I haven't spent a lot of time on the court. The wife and I are looking to be moving into a new house that has a basketball goal, so I'll be an expert here in a few months.

I grew up playing baseball and soccer and obviously soccer kept me conditioned. What's sad is, I was known for my endurance in high school. One of my buddies is now the high school soccer coach and he always tells them about how I could run for 45 mins straight with no breaks (at 140 lbs, albeit)...now, I can't go a mile before I start going into heart attack mode. Id rather have the gainz, anyway.

I'd love to do boxing, but there's nowhere around her for that.

I have a cousin who lives in downtown Atl (where more of that type of stuff is accessible) and he does Brazilian Ju-jitsu. He grew up wrestling his whole life, so he's a natural. I'm jealous. He's seriously like 5'7"-5'8" mayyyybe 120 lbs and I've seen him fuck people up in a bar twice his size. He folds me up like a pretzel every time we're fucking around and I am ten times stronger than he is.

I've honestly thought about getting back into mma but I'm good. I don't need to get my face punched or my joints jacked

So first night back in the gym last night and it sucked so bad. Did lite walking for 45 minutes and after 44 I was hurting so bad that I had to stop. I started hurting around 30 minutes at 3.5 mph and pushed a little longer but dropped to 3mph made it another 15 but was definitely not what I was expecting. I figured I could walk no problem and probably walk for about 2 hours is what I had set myself up for. Needless to say the next 3 weeks are going to drag by so slowly.

I think muy thai is kinda like boxing where you can do a lot of it on your own. Of course, you'll learn more at a facility, but training at home is better than nothing, right? I found some boxing videos online I've been contemplating buying along with a bag and all the other shit. I'm just scared I'd never do anything with any of it.

Just think, it's just like owning guns. Ya never know when you'll need them.....but having guns is also why I've never really considered martial arts much

x2. I carry everywhere I go. I'd like to learn to box just for the cardio...the added self-defense benefit would be nice, too, though

Can't wait for the one in wake forest. That's only a couple miles from my house. I had to plan my trips to vitamin shoppe like it was a vacation. The other ones were so far away

I usually can only work out 3x a week, so I have to group things. As such, leg day gets split.

WED = chest, light tri's, legs (squats, lunges)
THURS = back, bicep, legs (deadlifts, leg curls/extensions)
    FRI = Shoulders, tri's, abs

I go into work Saturday basically sore all over lol. I can't really work out on work days, they're already 12 hour shifts and its too draining to work in a solid lift. My first day off is all recovery from work. I get home at 8 A.M., sleep till 3, and I'm back in bed dead tired at 9.

Same with snowboarding! I really beef up leg day for a couple weeks before the season to make sure I won't be sore, but it also incluses abs etc etc.

Wrestling a suspect also makes you find out what kind of shape you're in (like you mentioned basketball). 2-3 minutes all out will drain everything you've got...those MMA guys doing three 5 minute rounds is insane. You also wake up the next day sore in spots you didn't know you had muscles!
