To some this will sound dumb but I am looking for help with a lift on my 2012 Tacoma 4x4 with Off Road package. I am looking to change the lift and tires and I was hoping for some ideas and opinions on various lift packages or what you have done to your truck to lift it. I want to lift my truck but I am trying to do the research first.

Start with the search function since this same question is asked multiple times a week.

Decide what you need/want from your truck and give Headstrong Off-Road a call.

Larger tires will get you more ground clearance. A lift will help fit larger tires. Type of shocks/springs will depend on what kind of driving you want to do. Within each category, there are different setups at different price points.

Honestly in a few years this truck will be going to my daughter, so mostly for show but I'd like it to also have some ability to it. I am looking for it to still clear under 7 feet which is the clearance on my garage now. Currently with the stock Off Road lift it has 12 inches of clearance with the 265 tires on there now. I'm looking at likely putting 285 tires with the lift.

Stay away from blocks and spacer lift, whatever you do.

5100 shocks all around and an AAL out back is the best route to go for the most cost efficient, yet basic lift.

Lets be honest here. The search function sucks about as hard as Monica Lewinsky did Bill. You have better luck typing in your query and "tacomaworld" after it on google.

It does out of the box. You have to massage it a bit to get useful stuff out of it.

OP, I would look at 255/85/16 tires before 285. You'll have to do quite a bit of lifting and modifying (cutting) to get the 285s to clear without issues.

Thank you. This is great info. Keep the ideas coming guys. I'm more tech than build so I'm learning as this goes.
